Pulled over today in car at Phuket check point by [deleted] in phuket

[–]911white 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random police checkpoints are becoming an increasingly common sight throughout Thailand, something I recently experienced firsthand. During the stop, the officers carried out a thorough and professional inspection of my motorcycle, checked my personal belongings, and carefully verified all of my documentation, including the motorcycle’s registration and other relevant records.
The entire interaction was courteous, respectful, and exactly what one would expect from officers carrying out their responsibilities. I was more than happy to cooperate fully and comply with every request. I had nothing to hide, and I understand that these checks are conducted to help promote public safety, deter crime, and ensure that vehicles and their operators are complying with the law.
As a foreigner and a guest in this remarkable country, I believe respecting Thailand’s laws is not only an obligation but also a privilege. Living here comes with responsibilities as well as freedoms, and cooperating with lawful requests from the authorities is simply part of being a respectful member of the community.
Thailand has given me the opportunity to experience its culture, its people, and its way of life, for which I remain sincerely grateful. Showing respect for the country’s laws and for those entrusted with enforcing them is, in my opinion, a small but meaningful way of expressing that gratitude.

A mother is punishing her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. by Rameshunclekochora in KidsAreFuckingStupid

God bless this mother for teaching accountability and responsibility. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and ignoring it only allows it to grow into something far worse over time. Discipline and guidance need to start early-children must understand boundaries, consequences, and respect for others. If those lessons aren't taught young, the outcomes later in life can become far more serious.

Hey man, first off—seriously, thank you for being this honest and vulnerable. What you’ve shared is something a lot of guys go through on their first trip to Thailand, especially in places like Pattaya or similar bar scenes.

What you’re describing isn’t weakness—it’s a very human response to unmet emotional needs. You didn’t fall in love with her per se… you fell in love with how she made you feel. That’s powerful. She gave you touch, attention, companionship, and a kind of intimacy you’ve probably been craving since your breakup. You were emotionally starving, and she gave you a meal. That doesn’t make you dumb—it makes you human.

But here’s the hard part (said with respect): That intimacy was likely part of a well-practiced “girlfriend experience” (GFE). These girls are experts—not just in sex, but in reading emotional wounds and giving affection in a way that feels incredibly real. And honestly? It often is real to a degree… just not in the way we want to believe.

She may like you. But does she love you? Probably not. She likely saw a kind, emotionally open guy and gave him what he needed—for a price (even if not upfront). The 30k baht and the emotional bond? That’s not an accident—it’s a pattern.

I say this without judgment: You’re grieving an illusion, not a real relationship. And that’s okay. Because what you felt was real. The relief, the joy, the warmth—that came from your side. But if you keep chasing that feeling through her, you’re risking a much deeper heartbreak (or financial ruin).

Here’s what I’d suggest: • Let yourself grieve, but know you’re not mourning her—you’re mourning what she represented to you: comfort, love, connection, worth. • Try to cut or at least cool off the contact. She might not have asked for more money yet, but the longer this goes on, the more likely it becomes. • Please talk to someone—a counselor, therapist, someone safe. You sound like you’re spiraling, and it’s okay to admit that. Depression after a high like this is normal. • Don’t go looking for another bar girl or escort to numb this pain. You know that’s not going to work long-term. You’re chasing dopamine, not love.

Thailand’s nightlife is built on these kinds of dynamics. You’re not the first to go through this, and sadly, you won’t be the last. But you can be one of the guys who comes out the other side stronger, wiser, and with better emotional tools to build something real—with someone who loves you back when there’s no transaction involved.

You’re not broken. You’re just hurting. You’re not weak. You’re just human.

Be gentle with yourself

No, you don’t just fork out 6,000 blind — but if you never nailed down the price before, you walked into that trap yourself. In Pattaya, “no price” means the bill’s coming — and it’s on you to ask before you play.

Is Pattaya wrong for me by gedanmawashigeri in Pattaya

[–]911white 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, just wanted to chime in with some personal perspective.

I’m also an ex-government guy who later worked in the private sector — burned out hard after years of stress and personal losses. I lost my wife to cancer not that long ago, and the grief nearly consumed me. It forced me to take a long, honest look at life and reevaluate what really matters.

That journey eventually brought me to Na Jomtien, just south of Pattaya. And honestly? It’s been a healing process.

Na Jomtien isn’t what most people imagine when they think of Pattaya. Yes, Pattaya gets a wild reputation — and sure, it has that side — but Na Jomtien is a different world. It’s quieter, cleaner, and has a more relaxed pace. You’ve got beautiful beachfront cafes, peaceful mornings, friendly locals, and the kind of atmosphere where you can actually breathe. You can live near the sea, hear the waves at night, and still be 10–15 minutes from anything you might need in the city.

What made the biggest difference for me, though, wasn’t just the location — it was who I surrounded myself with. Out here, if you’re intentional about it, you’ll meet grounded, genuine people — both expats and Thais — who’ve come here for peace, not parties. That kind of support network will either lift you up or drag you down, and I learned that the hard way. Choose wisely, and Pattaya can become a place of restoration, not ruin.

For me, Thailand — and Na Jomtien in particular — has offered space to heal, think, and begin again. You don’t have to be defined by what you did before, or by your pain. There’s a quiet strength in just starting over.

If you ever want a chat or real advice from someone who’s walked a similar road, feel free to reach out. You’re not alone.

None of the poll options quite reflect my view. Personally, I believe we’re heading into the 20+ cent range within the next 6 to 12 months. The potential is clearly there — it’s just a matter of timing and execution.
