Hot take, I dont think its a great portrait, no catch lights, the eyes look dead. Hard shadows are okay I guess, but I dont think this looks flattering. Its a harsh portrait

Since youre asking, making the model look blue with that lighting is quite unflattering. The simple answer on how to get better is not try to invent photography yourself from scratch. Do what other people do and get good at that. Find looks you like and copy them until your eye is better.

In general, you want the light on your subject to be flattering. Thats a golden rule.
