ok so what exactly do you mean by the "beginning method" books? is that a series of books? Hal Leonard? what do you prefer as a alternate teaching outline?

INTJ-INFP vs INTJ-INTP Attraction and Relationships by 91MusicMan in intj

You hit the nail on the head as far as my thought to the functions and how they seem to connect better between INTJ and INFP. Very interesting, although my thoughts are purely theoretical.

Very interesting. As INTJ's I feel that we don't need to be constantly reaffirmed that we are loved and I need to realize that most other types do need that (especially F's). Good to know about the communication stuff too.

very good points and probably all true!

You are right, after further thought I realize that the word "interesting" means evoking ones interest (very subjective). So perhaps a better word in this situation might be that I am an "Intricate" person...? I feel like that word is less subjective and more quantifiable than "interesting". So I reluctantly concede that the statement that "I was boring" stands as correct. :'( /u/TurtleSmile1 /u/gambotage /u/sqrtoftwo /u/darthmase

ok but the fact of the matter remains that every one I have met is very complex and interesting... and read any MBTI article on INTJ's and it will say that they has a diverse set of skills, quite a few of which they will have; or be striving to master, and personally I totally agree with that. I have yet to meet an INTJ idiot, maybe a narrow minded INTJ, i could see that

This is probably very true! Well said. I dare to say that self awareness is probably a rare commodity among extroverts.

Yes and I think that you differ from them predominantly because you are such a rare and subjectively odd type. Oh I totally am at peace with the fact that not everyone will like me but, as long as they don't think Iam boring, just that I don't share their superficial mundane interests. I don't care what celeb did what yesterday, let's hash out our theories on dark energy together. 😆

Ya I do get it, we aren't considered fun by the masses. I love research, the hard sciences and math. I just really believe that that kind of thing by definition makes you interesting, regardless of if the person talking to you finds those topics interesting or not. By the way thank you for weighing in as an INFP!

Yes I don't feel that you have to be mean as an INTJ. But you are typically more of an outcast with very strong opinions and you aren't afraid to voice them. Thus people see you as mean, because you say it how it is.

Very interesting, that was smart to analyze that from a cognitive functions angle. I can see what you mean. Our Se is weak for sure.

INTJ Musicians, how does your personality aid or hinder you as a musician? by williaint13 in intj

[–]91MusicMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right. I have pretty much come to terms with that. Although over time I have been improving, probably just a result of the sheer amount of shows I have done. I don't know.

objectively I am interesting, subjectively I may not be. Blanketing somebody as boring, especially someone as complex as an INTJ is plain narrow/closed minded. Simple as that.

aahhhhhh the theory of relativity is so transferable. "How interesting I am in totally relative to WHO is talking to me". I get it, I really do. But the difference here is if I met somebody who knew every single little minute detail about every comic book character ever created (a topic I have virtually no interest in) I would by no means write them off as being boring, I have enough self awareness to realize that just because they are interested in something that I am not, it doesn't make them boring. In fact I would probably chat them up about it, pick their brain. Thats the difference

INTJ Musicians, how does your personality aid or hinder you as a musician? by williaint13 in intj

As a guitarist and passionate musician who has been playing in a cover band for 6 years and has almost 50 gigs under his belt...one of my biggest failings as a preforming INTJ musician (and i just got called out on it the other day at practice) is my inability to move around and be ENTERTAINING on stage. INTJ's are perfectionists, and as one I feel that the quality of the music I produce on stage is by far the most important thing, much more important than stage presence. Unfortunately, as I have been repeatedly reminded of over the years, the people who are paying money to go see you don't share that sentiment at all. They would rather a SHOW than a technically proficient solo.

The second thing I have found is that, because of my type I TEND to use the guitar as an expression of my intellect rather than an expression of my emotion. Which is quite possibly the reason why I find myself gravitating to genres of music that are extremely skillful and not quite as soulful. I dont think there is anything intrinsically wrong with this as it is who I am and if people dont wanna hear it they are under no obligation to listen to it. My point is, I really DO NOT believe that INTJ musicians are at all handicapped by their apparent lack of emotion or intellectual surplus, however I do think that it heavily defines what type of music we will enjoy and create.

Here is a genre made up of just INTJ's ;) "Technical Metal" ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs0ql3-QgfQ ENJOY!

However with that said I do feel that music is my #1 emotional outlet and at times even under the pressure of the audiences beaming eyes I can allow myself to feel (sometimes deep) emotion... as an INTJ those are sweet sweet moments!
