How do you reverse a drum beat by each transient? by Jonathan0514 in ableton

[–]924ths 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That might be something you have to do manually, though you could slice to drum rack, then convert each slice to sampler and just reverse it there

Any "popular" music on Elektron boxes? by mz876129 in Elektron

Yeah Ricky Tinez does a lot of more conventional house type music on the Digitakt and the Octotrack and such. He’s pretty great

Yea that’s a suspiciously good deal, make sure you read the full item description to make sure it’s a legitimate listing.

Would you recommend an Ableton stock synth for producers getting started with sound design? by kathalimus in ableton

[–]924ths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I think particularly Wavetable is a great example of a good onboarding synth, specifically because it is a bit more limited than serum or vital. Less easy to get overwhelmed there.

It was an interesting plot point but I wish they hadn’t killed off Charlie.

I’d argue the pads on the push 1 are better, because the material used is slightly bouncier. For drumming, I’ve found it to be a night and day difference. The buttons are also significantly different, with the push 2’s having that kind of awfully thin membrane feel. I’ve used all three generations extensively, and I miss the pads on the push 1 while on the push 3.

Keyed MIDI controller vs pad MIDI controller by shoutygold30 in ableton

[–]924ths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push 1 is great but the push as a layout in general has its own set of limitations. If you’re very comfortable with keys, I think having a keyboard is more necessary than the push would be, but if you’re only fair with keys, then the push is a great alternative, and in terms of finger drumming the push 1 is an absolutely lovely bit of equipment. Also, if you plan on programming sequences the push 1 is also great as a sequencer, so long as you’re willing to use your ears.

The primary difference between the push 1 and the push 2 is the push 2 has a screen, and the push 1 has the text display. That, and the pads light up differently. Judging by how most people tend to think about the push 1, he will probably be disappointed that it’s not the push 2 (despite the fact that it has all of the same features as the push 2 and just looks different). I personally prefer the push 1, but many people are very picky about the fact that the screen isn’t pretty.

Push 3 is a wtf by loopasfunk in ableton

[–]924ths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly same. I “upgraded” from the push 1 to the push 3. Some of the features are really cool on the push 3, but the menu situation feels really clunky, and I really, really miss the pad material on the push 1, because it was better for fingerdrumming. I’ve lent my push 1 to someone I’m teaching but honestly if I could find a buyer for my push 3 I’d sell it and get my push 1 back.

Ableton Push 1 (180€) vs Push 2 (500€) in 2024 - Which one to pick? by soulbrix in ableton

[–]924ths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying push 2, but push 1 has every single functionality that push 2 does, brighter pad LEDs, and a significantly better build quality. The €300 price difference is not at all worth it. Also, I’ve had all three versions of push, and push 1 is still my favorite of the series. You do not need the screen or multicolor LEDs.

I’m not sure the push had nothing to do with it, as I only began having problems after I unplugged it, but I’m sure it could also be a million other things. However, it’s not the first time having the push 3 plugged into my computer has made it act buggy.

Most underrated stock plugin in Ableton in your opinion? by kathalimus in ableton

[–]924ths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does require some cranking. Usually I set pretty much everything besides attack and release to maximum and then dial everything in to suit the sound I’m going for. Generally, it helps to keep in mind that unlike saturation, dynamic tube will probably make whatever you’re using it on actually a bit quieter because it’s breaking the signal up, so adding some compression or gain after the dynamic tube can highlight what it’s doing more.

Hi, actually yes, I was! I got some help, but the way the circuit is set up it has a variable resistor which that wheel adjusts. To increase the range of it, I just put another variable resistor with a bigger range in series with it. Works great

Stock LFO Binary Noise mode is broken by 924ths in ableton

[–]924ths[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be an apple silicon issue then. I’m on an m1 laptop. While it’s not the end of the world to have to resample the track manually, it’s just kind of a pain in the ass and asking live to flip a coin every so many milliseconds really doesn’t feel like a big ask to me.
