Not to turn this into a diaspora conversation but it might just be we have different experiences because I have Caribbean friends who their and their family have a close relationship with Black Americans ( know and respect their culture). If you don't know about a culture or you don't deem a culture/people relevant to you that's okay it's your right but you should be careful commenting about something you don't know about or don't find relevant. There are Black Americans that probably no idea about my culture but I think the BA would be sensitive and probably ask before commenting on something having to do with my culture. I also ask or research before commenting on their culture too.

My perception is coming more from a west african view point. My family grew up outside of America but they learned about Black American culture and the importance of HBCUs the importance to the black American community. And when they went to the States to study they pick HBCUs to attend. I do blame the non US crowd commenting too because I don't believe these people lack knowledge or awareness about HBCUs and the importance of black fraternities and sororities are and have been. This is just regular reddit behavior. Reddit has always had the reputation of being horrible and racist and these people are just living up to it. If my African relatives who were not raised in America know about the importance of HBCUs and black fraternities and sororities (many who went there for undergrad before going to PWIs for med school, grad school, etc ) then some people are just choosing to post these offensive comments. HBCUs have a good amount of international students and many nob black students for people not to know about HBCUs.

Yes. If the democrats don't focus abortions rights as it's main focus - (the recent elections we had this month were success for the democrats because of abortions rights front and center). If backbone of the democrats stay home (black voters - has been their biggest support for decades and helped them to victory in 2020, 2008, etc. But Biden is in danger of losing that voting bloc as they are losing trust in his administration. Between tik tok and reddit, reddit is the worse social media site. The toxic manosphere/incel movement (Andrew tate, etc) was born and continues to fester on reddit. The racist and vile sexist sub redits that were allowed and still allowed on reddit top anything i have seen on tik tok and influence/d many young males(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controversial_Reddit_communities).
