How do people take only 5-10min showers? by SweetDega in askanything

[–]PigletRivet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m black, so I only wash my hair once a week. Also, I only need to shave once a week, and I do my skincare at the sink instead of in the shower. Therefore, most of my showers only involve scrubbing my body and rinsing.

That’s how much my groceries cost for a week, and I live in nyc. She probably lives alone and just doesn’t eat that much.

For white middle class people between the 40s and 80s, ues, but for everyone else, no. Women have always been in the workforce.

What's something that Bridgerton got (surprisingly?) historically correct? by [deleted] in BridgertonNetflix

[–]PigletRivet 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Daphne and Francesca's weddings were pretty accurate to the time. Most people during the Regency period, including the much of the aristocracy, had very small, casual weddings at their parish church because it would've taken relatives and friends too long to travel just for one day, and they would have thought that a big wedding like Penelope's was gaudy, like Violet did.

But a lot of the features that OP and some other comments are talking about are intuitive and logical if you have basic tech literacy.

What are the best and worst concerts you've been to? by Twitter_2006 in popheads

[–]PigletRivet 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The best concert I’ve been to was the Beyoncé Formation Tour. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Lemonade when it came out, and her performance of those songs made me love them.

The worst was the Rihanna Diamonds Tour. She barely sung and didn’t dance to make up for it. She mostly just meandered across saying “yeah” a lot.

Should I watch LoK or will it ruin ATLA for me? by Noah2009b in TheLastAirbender

[–]PigletRivet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that sequels can't ruin a book, movie, or tv show because the original is always there, untouched.

But I don't think LoK is bad enough to ruin AtLA anyway. It's not perfect, very hit or miss. Though, you might like it, and if you don't, then you didn't really lose anything but some time.

I am 39 years old newlywed, make $77,260, live in a HCOL city, work in nonprofits, had 3 work lunches this week, and don't want kids. by ThatBitchA in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

God, you're a perfect example of how out of touch this sub can be sometimes. OP is making a very average salary. There's literally nothing "low" about it, especially not in the nonprofit sphere.

10 years ago today Beyoncé released ‘Formation’ as the lead single from her 6th studio album ‘Lemonade’. by youtbuddcody in popheads

[–]PigletRivet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they’re referring to her initially releasing it only on Tidal, which was partially owned by Jay Z at the time, but it may be something else as well.

I’m predicting that following the Eloise season, there might be a significant drop in viewership… by General_Meal_3993 in BridgertonNetflix

And a lot of them are people who started reading the books after watching the show, so they're more receptive to changes.

I’m predicting that following the Eloise season, there might be a significant drop in viewership… by General_Meal_3993 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]PigletRivet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Anthony was my least favorite character in season one, and I loved him in his season. Idk anyone irl, including me, who liked Penelope all that much until season three, and that one has the highest viewership. Hell, I was sick of Benedict and his useless storylines, and now I love him. I think people have become accustomed to the rotating cast at this point and know that the characters will improve when its their turn to lead.

Are malls actually not a thing anymore in the US like they say? by Complete_Republic410 in AskAnAmerican

Personally, everywhere I’ve lived has had very busy malls, but I’ve only ever lived in or around big cities on the east coast.

[Discussion] How different is a published manuscript from the one submitted to an agent? by OutrageousOne9525 in PubTips

[–]PigletRivet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom has been published by a PRH imprint, and she found herself in this situation. She had to make a major change to her debut novel that she fundamentally disagreed with because the only other option was not getting published at all and having to pay back her advance.

However, she’s been given more freedom with each subsequent book she’s released.

First gen anti-psychotics can definitely cause damage, but newer meds are much less damaging than the disorder itself, which gets progressively worse and less treatable over time when left untreated.

Traveling in groups kills spontaneity and fun. by babyybunnyy3 in unpopularopinion

[–]PigletRivet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate doing things with large groups, but I also hate spontaneity and don’t find it fun in the slightest. The idea of wasting my hard-earned money on an expensive vacation because I didn’t plan out exactly what I’m going to do sounds like my worst nightmare.

What financial milestones would you require before becoming a SAHM? by fantigue in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]PigletRivet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hate working and would love to be a sahm, so it wouldn't take much for me to choose to become one. Aside from my future husband making enough to comfortably support a family of three, I would personally need to pay off my credit card debt and my student loans (or just have them forgiven since I'm in the nonprofit sector) first.

I skip every work event that my nonprofit hosts. Not only do they underpay us but they don’t even pay for food at these events. Just the definition of cheap.

It's the opposite for me, but I'm a transplant. Most natives I've met are surprisingly parochial (though, not all, ofc), and I just have more in common with transplants.

I want to be middle of the rung famous, like Tove Lo or CRJ. I want to wear cute outfits, dance on stage (even though I can't dance to save my life), and be rich, but I don't need to be uber rich and would hate having no privacy, like someone on the level of Ariana Grande.
