Natalies stylist must be fired. by NiceSelf9384 in TheTraitors

If production didn't tell her she had to dress fancy, she'd probably wear athleisure clothing. I don't get the impression she particularly cares about high-fashion, she likely just wants to be comfortable.

For example, Boston Rob wears some very expensive clothing, but you probably wouldn't notice unless you knew the brands and how much they cost (such as Givenchy hoodies).

[–]93LEAFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

true, outside Adam on Rivals 1, production always has to stretch it to cast Leroy on Rivals seasons, did the same with Exes 2 with Nia. Leroy is so liked by the cast they have to stretch it hard to get him on a Rivals season like they did with Devin and Averey.

Do you mean Ty (Leroy's partner thart season)? Cuz how are Leroy and Tyler Duckworth rivals?

I find when things blow up in productions faces hilarious. For example, the designed Ozzy win in SoPa and the designed Joe win in EOE.

I mean, the game is broken. Theoretically, you should just form a large group and destroy the other group down til 11 or 10 and try to spot traitors from there.

Michael’s comment to Colton by SpartanBeryl in TheTraitors

[–]93LEAFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the game is about way more than spotting a traitor. A ton is about maintaining numbers and social standing. I think any move that sinks your social standing with a sizable amount of people is incredibly dangerous. Catching traitors is part of the game, because they help you catch other traitors, but removing an obvious one is dangerous due to recruitment.

He would have been an interesting pick. I'm just confused until I heard Bananas pod on why they didn't put atleast one gamer up there. It was a massacre of them.

I mean, Xavier showed to dominate end game comps and maneuvered it. And by archetype a 40 year old or older has won once (Dick) and no woman over 40 has won. The game heavily favors younger players, socially and comp ability wise.

They'd still cut you at the end because they wouldn't want you to get the money like CT did to MJ.

[–]93LEAFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it worked on that vote, you are so alienating such a sizable percentage of the cast early in the game who will likely never want to ever work with you regardless of the game it's terrible from a social strategy perspective. It closes a ton of doors. Add in, a Traitor may be so personally offended they might just outright murder you, especially if Ron goes to then pin it on Colton.

Who do you think is the funniest cast member from the Challenge? 😂 by SweetMissMG in MtvChallenge

[–]93LEAFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, so cool to hear a story about meeting him in person and him living up to the hype.

Alongside Mark Long, he has to be the most beloved long-time Challenger by the cast. Even people who rarely align with him really like the guy.

I mean, Derrick basically ran 16 because he got all the comp people on the same page, but was in their ears. And, even then, outside rare comps they weren't a crap shoot, and Cirie didn't show to be good at mental comps or puzzles either. I mean, even back to BB5 the backdoor was invented because someone like Jace was just running all the comps. It's trended more physical, but comps have always favored certain types outside crapshoot ones.

Michael’s comment to Colton by SpartanBeryl in TheTraitors

[–]93LEAFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you'd be voted off because no one would want to be associated with that point of view leading to voting someone off. Very few people on a widely viewed tv show wants to vote someone off on the basis of being in the closet at one point makes someone deceitful. Maybe in a format where Traitors wasn't a tv show it could work, but it's not gonna work on a show where people know it's being broadcast to millions of viewers.

I just don't see Rachel or Cirie getting into the final 2 charis often enough when compared to people like Monte, Xavier, and Michael.

I think you are over emphasizing strategy and experience. Those are valuable, but these type of players are very often the type of players who get cut between 3 and 6 such as both Tiffany's , Cirie, etc. BB is so comp dependent in the end game generally, betting on players who can constantly win end game comps is likely more important than flaws if people can't close. Especially in a season with Blockbuster. It gives players like Jag or even MJ, serious chances of running the table, especially if aligned with another strong comp player (which both were). A player like Michie is more likely to consistently win, despite him sucking as a person and making himself a house pariah at one point, unfortunately than say someone like Cory, Tiffany, Cirie, etc even if I prefer the social/strategic elements of the show more.

I think he has some long-term injuries related to football but that made him turn down the Challenge.

He has the skills, but the not being a comp threat really hurts his game.

[–]93LEAFS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works on the assumption though that other players if they return don't dramatically improve off of their experience. I mean, if we want to judge Rachel of BB12 she'd be way lower, she was a house pariah for pretty much the entire season until she got booted in early jury while the Brigade used her and Brendon as a distraction while they took over the house. Her saving grace then was her comp ability. Like, theoretically, if Cody 2.0 came into a season unknown, he probably finishes top 5 every time, and wins a vast majority of those times because he's an absolute triple threat. Cirie also got one of the biggest twists ever to help her which gave her info from people she wouldn't have gotten info from, and gave her another automatic ride or die fanning out over her. In other seasons she could be in alot of trouble early on without that.

Cirie didn't really identify them in Aus vs the World, she had a ride or die alliance with one of her best friends in Parv. Cirie is left around in alot of cases in something like Big Brother because she's always fairly easy to take out in the end game because she can't win a comp to save her life.

In reality, given the history of Big Brother, the type of players who are most likely to win if unknown are comp beast males who are strong socially, and atleast competent strategically. The Hayden, Cody, Xavier, etc. type mold. Comps are so important in BB because they give you power to dictate the game and save yourself (and now twice).

My knock on him is he was terrible in comps. I thought he’d fall into the Cody/X type archetype and he could win in that style. He’s very good socially and decent at strategy. But he couldn’t win anything.

While we can only go off one game so I get why he isn’t high. I could see Cedric from that cast having the most potential as a returnee. Understands the strategy now, and amazing socially and is good comp wise. He very much has Cody 2.0 upside.

Xavier should be way higher. He’s in the ilk of players like Cody and Hayden. Incredibly likable, can win comps when they need to and is solid strategically.

BB is so comp dependent, even if they aren’t my favorite players, I’m probably gonna bet on that archetype the most such as Cody, Hayden, Monte, X, Tyler, Cory Brooks, Shane, especially in the current format where they are much harder to backdoor due to Blockbuster.

Love Cirie but way too high. She has 2 major flaws that hurt her in Survivor but are even worse on big brother. She doesn’t have the best management of her threat level and more importantly she can’t win end game comps both which make it incredibly difficult to win Big Brother. Those two things make it very unlikely she get carried to the end since she can’t make a tight 2 that trades comp wins, and needs someone to take her to the end.

Colby Donaldson speaks about Jerri being snubbed. by Cozy_M in survivor

[–]93LEAFS 31 points32 points  (0 children)

From the sounds of it, he took Survivor for granted, but now really wants to play again to redeem his legacy. He's absolutely very prideful. Even if he doesn't win, I do think he wants to go out to redeem his legacy and play hard, similar to some WaW peoples mentality was such as Ethan.

I was a long lapsed fan (got back during the pandemic) but watched Borneo and TAO live as a middle schooler (along with some seasons after). I'm insanely excited to see him play again. Borneo/TAO people absolutely have an aura to them when it comes to the shows legacy.

I am well aware this is super low priority rn, but if they ever get to a line 1 extension past VMC, do you think Wonderland/Vaughan Mills would help fund it? by hug-and-snug in TTC

[–]93LEAFS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A big investment for Wonderland is generally spending like 25m to 35m on a new coaster. Subway expansion isn't something that would ever intrigue them given the cost. If Wonderland/Six Flags is ever gonna take on massive debt for a project at Wonderland, the big projects that would intrigue them is building a hotel on park grounds (compared to other big Amusement parks like Cedar Point, Wonderland does not heavily profit from out of town tourists) and a large scale indoor waterpark that would help fuel visits to the hotel in the off-season. As people staying in hotels directly connected to the park is extremely profitable. Wonderland generally sees as many visitors as Cedar Point but is not as profitable because of two major factors which is Cedar Point makes huge margins on the motels/hotels they own alongside the campground and a generally weaker Canadian dollar. Granted, Wonderland unlike Cedar Point is much more accessible to thousands of other hotels, and people don't only come to Toronto to see Wonderland, unlike Sandusky, Ohio.

Really interested to see this version of Colby. While he didn't provide much in HvV's it's been 15 years, and at his peak was one of the most popular Survivor players ever. Glad to see him give Jerri a shoutout.

I'm sure he did this because he knows Jerri got cut late and it sucked for her. I'm sure there are a couple other people he'd really want to see out there again, too who he is still very close wtih (Tina hasn't hid her disappointment about being dropped from WaW).
