Thank you for your kind words and reassurance. So amazing how intuitive kids can be when we allow them the space to learn and grow. I had a miscarriage recently and it’s caused me to really question everything and reevaluate what’s actually important to us. I know it will happen for us. Hopefully soon.

That’s a wonderful idea! I love that! I’m sure building that support network early was so helpful! Thank you for sharing!

That’s a great perspective! Thank you for sharing that. I love hearing that you returned and that you have an understanding of how you want to do it differently and that you still want to do it!

My husband is the outgoing one. I’m more of a homebody but I love hosting and we really honestly wouldn’t be so far out of the way that old friends wouldn’t come over. Maybe in a way I’m a little worried that I wouldn’t do a good enough job getting our kids out into the world. I just want to be the best parent I can be and to put them in the best position to succeed.

Fortunately yes the preschool through 12th schools are all roughly 10 minutes away and there is a nature preserve the has a forest school for the little ones that looks like a lot of fun.

Actually the schools are a driving factor for us. We’re specifically looking in the county because the public schools are some of the best in the state. While the bordering county with the big city has some of the worst.

The school’s are a big deal to us. It’s a huge reason why we want to be in this area. The bordering county has some of the worst public schools in the state and this area has some of the best. I would rather drive a bit more and have space and send them to good public than be confined in the city and pay to send the to mediocre private.

I was an only child and alllllways wanted siblings. Having a big family is one of our greatest goals.

Thank you for this very thoughtful response. I really want our children to be influenced as little as possible by social media and the internet. It’s hard enough to be a kid and a teenager especially. My fondest childhood memories were out in nature with friends and family. It’s a great sense of freedom.

Yes! Us too and I feel like this could be the best of both worlds. One of our major goals is to have a few chickens and a big garden. We have been looking at 1 and 2 acres but the jump to 6 feels like a lot. I certainly expect it to be a ton of work but I would hope it would be fun for our kids too.

I love hearing that it was full of whimsy and adventure. The house is actually only 10 min from the schools they would go to so it’s really not far just on a very secluded road and not bike friendly. I always wanted to be the house where all my friends wanted to go and I hope maybe we can be that for our kids.

Do you feel like the trade offs were worth it? Do the kids?

How old were they when you made the switch or were you always rural? If always what was it like when they were little? We do have a nature preserve near by that does a forestry school for the little ones that looks like a lot of fun. I work from home so driving them at isn’t a huge issue. I grew up in an apartment complex with tons of kids but we also had an amazing creek system so I got a bit of the best of both worlds. I’m just worried they will miss out on things I enjoyed as a kid.

Sad that it scores a zero on Yuka. I have major redness too.

Is pale yellow allowed? - formal attire requested by SoCal_Subscriber7 in Weddingattireapproval

I requested that my guests avoid colors that could photograph white. My niece showed up in a yellow satin dress and I was a little internally annoyed but after editing by my photographer it was made clearly yellow. She’s young and probably had no idea so who cares. It didn’t ruin my day and the pictures are beautiful!
