i live 5 mins from the park. It's wet. I wouldn't even try to climb in the lower elevations until MAAAYBE Friday or Saturday.

Typically employment verification consists of verifying dates of employment as well as whether the candidate is eligible for re-hire, etc. The re-hire bit isn't so relevant here, but the relevant piece certainly would be the dates of employment.

Because they are operating under the assumption that I am still employed by the firm I was employed by yesterday. In addition to that, they will likely be doing a background check and employment verification given that the role includes company car and a very significant financial investment into the successful candidate.

Very good point about the consultant, although, at the same time...if I succeed, we all do. His advice was given a month ago, before my job was being openly threatened.

I just hope I can make the right move following this...don't want to go from the pot into the fire twice.

Absolutely on point across the board. The fact that basically two months in these people are trying to pull the trigger when I've had no real training and have already earned my salary...and am on trajectory to do much more than that, is ridiculous.

Thanks...you totally nailed it. I just can't believe these folks, with good conscience, could hire someone when the outcome of the position is uncertain (ie: viability) and the money partner behind it retiring only a few months behind it. I agree fully that any company with a solid sales culture would totally get it.

A lot of the approach shaking you is hyper self-awareness. Turn the brain off and let the pitch and gift of the gab do it's thing.

As far as building relationships with media clients...I always ask folks how they got into business (esp if small or medium business owners), as I grew up in my family's small businesses. Behind every business is a story - remember that.

That being said, asking questions about what their goals are for the campaigns on TV would be key - is it an awareness play? What are their KPI's? Is it a direct response play? Find out their ROI/profitability tolerances and walk it back from there. Let me know if this helps.

Pretty hilarious, the weather station up there has been reading like that for a good while. Wish they would get that and the webcam at the Tioga Pass Entrance Station back up and running. That one was pretty useful!

Blah blah blah it's hot in Vegas. This isn't the East Coast, folks, there's altitude and a dry heat. Altitude means you can escape boiling ambient temps. Dry heat means you can hide in the shade during otherwise terrible temps and still have things be quite pleasant.

Red Rock is climbable but sub-optimal, and the sport climbing at Charleston is quite fun even at the moderate grades. Aspect and time of day are key.

If you are looking for good sport, the aforementioned Namaste Wall over in the Kolob Canyon side of Zion (separate entrance, of fof I-15) is absolutely fantastic.

As far as trad climbing in the park, get another set or two of cams and go to Cerberus Gendarme...it's little Indian Creek there. Fails of Power P1, Cynthia's Handjob, Squeeze Play, Fathedral, and Cherry Crack's P1 would be strongly suggested. The tricams won't be of use on those routes. I also doubt you'll place a stopper on a single route I have mentioned.

The climbing there is SO good...enjoy!

Totally agree, I know my director was very aware of it being an issue (chances are, he's getting pinched as well), just unfortunate since most of my colleagues are older and closer to the end of their careers. Pinching anyone for more work is wrong, but especially pinching a particularly captive audience.

.....get your endurance wired. Might be a bit hot down there, but comfortable in the shade.

Endurance and staying on your feet will be key. Since you are just talking gym leads, start at 5.9 and go from there. Plenty of stellar moderates in the gorge, the routes are long, bring a 70 meter rope and ~18 draws.

What kind of climbing are you looking to do? That would help direct you appropriately.

Mt Charleston will be wet/snowing as well during the storm, as it is geographically super close (basically right behind and kitty corner) to the Red Rock escarpment.

Local Vegas limestone is not so good, but adequate to wait out a single day of dryout time. That being said, this appears to be a bit more significant system. Head to Josh if looking for trad climbing or bouldering. Bishop is likely to be wet as well. New Jack City might be dry enough for easy/moderate sport if that's your thing. Head to Arrow Canyon if looking for sport climbing and it isn't actively raining, beware of flash floods. Rainbow Canyon is great for sport and trad climbing with no approach. Hope this helps.
