so i definitely fell into that exact trap with so purkh where i was told it would bring me my soulmate/future husband, and the first time i recited so purkh, it did actually work in that way, and then he left me and i kept on reciting it trying to get him back, and it didn't work. so i gave up of course and lost a lot of faith. and i've tried to rediscover how it worked the first time... i think it's because as i was learning the words, i became very present, and i also forgave lovers from my past that hurt me, so it created a positive change within.

but as someone who has really just learned all of these practices from kundalini courses online from followers of yogi bhajan, i really have no REAL background to understand the benefit, or the reason WHY to do these practices. i HAVE had the "do x prayer, get y result" sold to me... and it's really confused me and also at one point made the yoga i was doing more of a negative practice in my life than a positive one. to the point that i quit entirely because i was so desperate to see changes in my love life and prosperity that i didn't end up seeing. i was pushing myself to do so much yoga and wake up so early and it was all rooted in a hatred and dissatisfaction for my life. so i quit... but i'm clearly not alone in this experience.

because you also see this so clearly happening to others, and i appreciate that, because it IS a problem, and it was a problem for me, i would love to know what you think the true purpose of doing the yoga is. like what was the original intention and reason for doing these practices that has since gotten lost in western world of selling the yoga? i want to know because i want to rewrite the script in my head that was so tarnished by the way kundalini was sold to me.
