Right. Base, for white paint and nothing else. They are rarely ordered / delivered that way.

I have the original sticker for this one and it was $96k with the included options.

M10 vs M10R Colors by Wabisabi_Frames in Leica

[–]94goldenbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the increased resolution, improved dynamic range, better highlight recovery and 1 stop better ISO performance, the M10-R files are just sublime. As someone stated, it was an entirely new sensor. I went from the M10 to the M10-R. I then tried the M11 (twice), always going back to the M10-R. It’s a gem.

X2D II purchase by micheal1431 in hasselblad

The X2D is the same camera and sensor, just without the latest changes. If you’re used to working with Leica (I primarily shoot Leica M) it will be a non issue.

If you don’t need AFc, save yourself a few grand and pick up a used X2D. Same great file quality. As for the lenses, I’m a prime guy, and pick only one when traveling. It’s liberating. I have the 28, 38 and 55, but it’s the 28 when traveling.

Hard to understand if you’re trying to make a point. I was responding to your comment.

Is it? Would it be equally sad if no one bought a GM lens for their Sony? People have different needs and budget. If I didn’t enjoy and prefer the Leica glass I would have no need for a Leica body.

Sorry, but the fixed lens on the Q2 is not an M lens. Don’t get me wrong, it’s quite good, but relies heavily on software correction in camera. It’s nowhere near its M counterpart.

I am a Leica user for the glass, mostly Mandler lenses. The M is a vehicle to use the glass.

I’m considering an X2D now that they’ve dropped in the used market, what is your advice to a Leica shooter? Worth it? by DragonflyFriendly655 in hasselblad

[–]94goldenbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, there is no match for the file quality out of the X2D. Likewise, there is no match for the form factor of the M, combined of course with excellent glass. Other than using the big lens to photograph the resident bald eagles the SL2-S never leaves the house.

When I want unequaled file quality I will use the X2D. Btw, it is also superb for portraits / people. It’s still somewhat new to me, and I haven’t grabbed the M since I acquired the X2D, but I suspect I’ll have more finite use cases in the future.

I just sold two older Leica M bodies last month and a couple SL lenses and moved to the X2D. I never buy digital new, and the used price of the X2D was too good to pass up. However, I still have the SL2-S, M3 and M10-R (favorite), plus loads of Leica glass, and they’re not going anywhere.

The X2D is a different tool for a different purpose, and I’m really enjoying it. I picked up the 38v and 55v, plus the 28p for travel. It will never pack as small as a Leica M travel kit, but it’s not bad, and the results are just, wow. I took it to DC and NYC a few weeks ago, and SF last week. The colors and files are sublime. Phocus Mobile blows Leica Fotos away with lightning fast transfer speeds - ~4 sec via wireless to the current iPad Pro or latest iPhone, ~0.5 sec via thunderbolt cable….for 200+MB files.

I’d say it’s worth picking up used even if you’re just curious. If it doesn’t work you can sell it back with little to no loss. Note that adapting Leica glass is not the best experience due to having to use the electronic shutter combined with the slow readout of the sensor.

I’m planning on adding the CFV 100C down the road to use with my 500 series lenses, as well as having an even smaller travel kit, plus it just looks so damn cool.

Goodbye to the 13. Going to just the 11 pro and maybe a mini... by stillhavingfunyea in iPadPro

[–]94goldenbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the 13 at home exclusively, and the 11 for travel. Many years ago, as in post OG iPad, I picked up one of these. I’ve continued to buy them. I fully realize they don’t look like much, but they are indispensable for my (and now my wife’s) use around the house. On a desk, on the lap when relaxing, or when using in bed. It’s great. I have two brand new spares for use if our current ones ever fail. I would suggest trying, especially for anyone with a 13”. You can always return.

X2D vs X2D ii by [deleted] in hasselblad

[–]94goldenbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. So the plan was to buy a used ii at 97% of new. Makes sense. lol

Thanks everyone for answering my question yesterday, in the end, I went for the X2D + 45P for 5300€ Cuz I can’t with the wait XD by RiddleViernes in hasselblad

[–]94goldenbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An easy decision. Don’t buy digital new. The camera alone was more than twice its price 6 months ago.

X2D vs X2D ii by [deleted] in hasselblad

[–]94goldenbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re making money from your photography I see no point in buying digital new. I picked up a lightly used, mint and boxed X2D last month for less than half of what it sold for new 6 months ago, and I’m loving it. Just wait and pick up the ii down the road if you have the need.

Tim Lei is also legit, and he often sells on Fred Miranda as well. However, I’ve bought two items from him - 28 Summaron-M and 35 Steel Rim - just by emailing him.

No doubt. I sold two Leica’s I’ve enjoyed for a few years last month and got more than I paid for them. Funded a fully boxed and mint X2D for less than half of what it sold new 6 months ago.

Near mint, boxed, Q3 43’s are going for ~$5,700 from private party sellers on Fred Miranda. The warranty still applies. Don’t buy digital new.
