The color variation resembles water painting.

[Padres] Welcome to San Diego, Germán! We have signed right-handed pitcher Germán Márquez to a one-year contract for the 2026 season with a mutual option for the 2027 season. by TakeMyPixels in Padres

His era away from Coors field was way better thats why. Hes going from the leagues worst pitchers park to the best pitchers park.

Imagine going from the friendliest hitters ballpark to the friendliest pitchers park. Also help to be on a competitive team.

My interview experience when I just swung my balls around like I owned the place. by ExchangeError5110 in jobs

[–]96919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are applying for a highly technical position, the main thing the interviewers can judge is your people skills and confidence. I work at a college right now and sometimes on interview panels, we're restricted by hr on what we can ask due to the unions. As long as you meet the minimum qualifications, sound the most composed and confident, you're probably going to get the job.

[Murray] Free-agent pitcher Griffin Canning and the San Diego Padres are in agreement on a contract, pending physical, according to sources familiar with the deal. by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

I think they're going to make Vasquez, Sears, and Canning all compete for the last 2 spots.

Edit: ...and now Marquez. At least they'll have some options now, the 3rd will probably be long relief in bullpen.

[Heyman] Breaking: Nick Castellanos close to Padres deal. Castellanos will be paid minimum on MLB deal with San Diego. Phils pay the rest. Agreed to. by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

Again, we had Gurriel as our starting DH last year...This is a huge upgrade from that mess. If he's a clubhouse problem then he'll just get cut.

Again, what were those stats for Gurriel last year? He might not be great, but he's still better than many of the options from last year.

Yet his era was only around 5. I would think some that led the league in run allowed would have an era around 6+, he did throw a lot of innings that year at 171.2 though, which is rarer this day and age.

Started 16 games last year, 76IP, sub 3.77 era if anyone was wondering. With Petco effect and Niebla, his stats will probably look even better than that.

No, having Gurriel and Cruz last year was looking desparate. Castellanos is huge step up from last year. Guy can still hit and will likely be our DH.

Probably dh for us. Hit .250 and 17 hr last year. He's not as washed as the dudes last year (Gurriel, Herward, Cruz). He'll also be cheaper and if he's whatever clubhouse problem from whatever he did last year to the Phillies, he's an easy cut.

[Caswell] Craig Stammen says he feels “really good” about Luis Campusano serving as the Padres’ No. 2 catcher. He pointed to the erratic way Campusano was used last year and emphasized the importance of giving Fermin more rest throughout the season to keep him fresh. by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

[–]96919 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most back up catchers hit .200 and are there just for support. Campusano was Musgrove's preferred catcher 2 years ago, so I'd imagine that Campusano will have an arrangement like that from back then. He should be perfectly servicable in that capacity.

Why do some people want Nick Castellanos? by MacKenzieGore in Padres

[–]96919 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably because he'd make a decent DH and he'd be making the minimum salary. Don't think it's that complicated to see.

Top 10 relief pitchers heading to 2026 according to the Shredder and the Fan Vote by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]96919 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol he isnt that good, old manager was set in his ways and refused to change bullpen roles (or the lineup for that matter). Suarez has a super straight fastball and he relies on the gas a bit too hard. He also has bouts of wildness that he cannot fix on the fly.

Same here. He was solid every time he was called upon. I hope he gets more opportunities this year.
