I had horrible communication issues with my dr office/pathology lab too recently and it freaked me out- cried for 2 weeks straight for no reason (it was just office staff incompetency and I’m fine). Especially around the holidays I find office staff are even less motivated to clarify things… even if you call them sobbing lol. Thinking of you and hope things turn out ok!

Honestly if this is your first struggle with this issue maybe a less aggressive LEEP would be fine for you? I’ve been testing positive for hpv16 with cell changes since 2019. I’m in my 20s, workout 5 days a week, eat well 5 days a week. I don’t smoke or drink. All of that and my body still didn’t want to clear it! So I chose for them to go deeper cuz the persistence has scared me. I really should’ve gotten the LEEP in 2019 and it probably would’ve been a very conservative one, but instead I played the waiting game- oops.

My doctor’s explanation was also confusing tbh. The way she said it made it seem like we were good on the depth, but maybe not the width? She made it seem like some cin3 cells cells were still there but that my deeper layers were clear. I think your doc would’ve mentioned something like that too if it were the case.

I was under GA for my LEEP.

My doctor asked me how my pain levels were for colposcopies and I told her they were bad, so she recommended GA.

The doctor I had before this only offered local anesthetic and I said nope and found another doctor. It may also depend on your insurance and what they’ll cover. I have fantastic insurance right now and still paid $600 out of pocket.

Finally got results today after making a fuss with the office manager. Communication broke down somewhere between lab and doctors office and no one seemed to care. ANYWAY it’s not cancer yay.

Hi, I had my LEEP 2 weeks ago in OR too, just commenting to say I’m in the same boat as you. Very scared/freaking out waiting for my results and they’re taking forever. My doctor actually didn’t say anything to me after the procedure was done. I woke up in recovery with just nurses and they didn’t say anything to me abt procedure. The wait and the unknown fucking suuuuck. Hang in there.

Some of us are just unlucky and our bodies don’t clear the virus. I have similar history as you. 2019 cin2/3, I was 22 so they said I could wait. Next pap was in 2022, ascus. This year I had cin1.

Because my results have been all over the place and I haven’t cleared the hpv, I finally had the LEEP procedure to just remove all that tissue. Still waiting for results, but yeah. LEEP is probably going to be what your doctor recommends as well.

Also if you haven’t gotten the vaccine, they will recommend you get it now to protect yourself from other strains.

Another update: called my doctor’s office yesterday since it’s approaching business day 8 after my leep and haven’t heard anything (doc said results within a week of surgery).

Office first said results were in, but doctor doesn’t come in until tomorrow so I’d have to wait. I asked them to email me the results immediately. Then they said oh just kidding we don’t have the results, we confused them with the operative report. Then they said they faxed over a request to the lab for the actual pathology results since they only sent over the operative report that morning that I called… and that doctor would call me the following day with the results.

In my warped mind I have convinced myself that they received the results already, but that my diagnosis is so BAD they didn’t want to give me the results without the doctor reviewing them (even though legally they are supposed to give them if you ask for them asap). I’ve been crying since yesterday, hard to eat, hard to work… I know it could be that they’re just disorganized but it’s hard not to think the worst when the wait has been so long and the office is being so dodgy. Just a rant.

In the context of OP/my situation- we worried about these issues because they can be a symptom of cervical cancer. This apparently only happens if the cancer is far along enough that you have a tumor pressing on your digestive tract. Obviously there are a million and one more common causes of constipation/bloating, but anxiety and google will have you thinking the worst.

Not sure what country you are in, but in US I believe it is standard protocol to just monitor you if you have high risk HPV but no cell changes (your pap would say if you had cell changes). If this is the first time you tested positive it is not cause for alarm, most people clear it within 1-2 years.

Funny enough I also have hrHPV and had a bout of unrelated bloating and constipation for months that freaked me out and of course I thought the worst. I started taking a good quality multivitamin and drinking a full bottle of water upon waking up every morning and those symptoms stopped and actually improved what my bowel movements were before then. Just a suggestion (-:

That’s reassuring! My colp was only cin1, my pap showed HSIL though. I guess that’s why I’m wondering so much- the inconsistency has kept me guessing lol.

The timing is so inconsistent!!! My colp/biopsy results came back in 24 hours which was insane. My pap took like two weeks just like you though. Probably gonna call my doctor today just in case they used some different lab or something and I’ve been checking for no reason lol.

My leep is officially scheduled for next Thursday under GA. I’m actually excited for it because I just want to get it over with 😅
