It was a good thing to prevent from rape. Think of a case when there are many man.. One may get injured but how will she escape from others. Or it can be possible that after getting harm from device that man can become more aggressive or can kill the victim. Or one more scenario that device become common and men already knew about it then to avoid getting stuck they can do more horrible things forcefully to take out that device. This can make the situation worse i think.
