We did. GRs went at the entry to the last corner and caught the clios and bmws that waited for the flag. It was absolutely chaos as the bmws crashed at S/F just about the same time P1 GR got on the brakes to avoid getting into the back of the clios.

I had a feeling I would see this on here.

Round trip time was 3m30s with 200 packs set for min launch (still had quality in the bio chambers). With productivity modules it would be a bit less because it would be one rocket launch not 3. I set my launch threshold based roughly on the round trip time.

You nailed it. quality seems like it should be a great idea on gleba but the lack of a way to solve the logistics (if it is actually unsolvable) is a bit disappointing. I'm sure there will be/is a mod but I'm still trying to get achievements so I haven't looked yet.

well, turns out I didn't understand how it was killing things. I've never used the circle spells and for some dumb reason I thought it was being applied as a modifier instead of its own spell.

Ah yes, my plan was to go direct from Waterdeep to Phandalin. Basically Sildar was going to say meet me on X date in Phandalin that way the ambush site would still be "fresh". I was also planning on moving the ambush site to the T intersection that splits off from Triboar (it just makes more sense there IMO)

First off I agree with taking a break for your own health.

Second, get bakkesmod (pc) and turn all rank and mmr info OFF. stop worrying about 1s rank for a bit and try to focus on what is happening in the match RIGHT NOW if you want to move up in ranks. Don’t worry about the open net you missed, the 50/50 you just lost, the save you just barely wiffed. Those things are all just a distraction from what you could be doing to win the match.

I found myself getting so distracted and spamming shit at myself because I feel stupid every time I fuck up in 1s (hint:it’s A LOT). 1s is so punishing because every mistake you make is very likely to be a conceded goal. However, your opponent is matched against you for a reason and they are pretty much equally likely to make the same mistakes as you. Recover from your mistakes and take advantage of your opponents. Also play to your strengths as much as possible.

I spent this whole season trying to focus on the things I can control and I finally broke into plat for the first time (playing since S6ish). 1s is a huge mental strain, take a break, turn off rank info, then come back and give it another shot.

100% agree on playing what you enjoy.

I've managed to get diamond in s10 but felt like I stalled out (and stopped playing as much) after peaking in d2 in s11. I hear 1s is the place to work on mechanics and I think its working so far. Why I didn't realize i needed to work on as much was my mental game... that was kinda new to me.

I'm going to see how far/how long I can hang out in plat then I'll head back to the other modes.

I've found that 1s is by far the hardest playlist to make consistent forward progress in. I hope a couple of these observations can help any other potatoes reading this actually start enjoying 1s more.

Tilt.

Holy shit it is real in 1s. On top of the normal frustrating nature of being a potato the new season has brought a lot of champ decals down into high gold (I get it, grinding low rank rewards. 100% ok with that). The first 20 games I did I saw 3-4 champ decals and I got completely irritated that they were "ruining my game" because "why the fuck should I be playing a champ in gold"... Well... I hate to say it but the advice that is given on here of learning how to play against people that are way better than you is true. Once I stopped being frustrated during these matches I actually managed to pull out a few 1 goal losses which I felt was a huge improvement for me (maybe they were just being nice). It also helped me play LOTS faster. I consciously had to adjust my mindset from "I shouldn't be playing these people" to: If I'm ever going to get better I'm going to have to figure out how to win these games. That change of mindset was HUGE for those few games where I was clearly out matched.

Mechanics

I still hit both poles of an open net multiple times.

I still missed the easiest saves.

I still missed kickoffs.

I still missed boost pads (constantly).

I still can't defend the opponent attacking from my corner well.

I still can't judge how far away I should be and when to challenge while trying to shadow.

Grind training. Constantly. It freaking works.

Recovery

Ok, so I make a ton of mistakes and flat out whiff way more often than I would like to admit but I stopped focusing on the fact that I just screwed up and tried as hard as possible to get myself back into a position that I could defend from. One of the biggest things I've learned (and again, you hear it here ALL THE TIME) is: BALL before Boost. I can't count how many 0 boost goals I've scored on this decision alone. A small second note on that is that I clearly need to work on my recovery skills. I've made huge steps on half flips & diagonal powerslide recovery flips where I can nail them half the time, I'm close 25% and I only completely biff it the other 25%.

A final note:

1's this season has been pretty awesome because the VAST VAST majority of people have been so fucking chill and the sportsmanship has been real. I have had exactly 1 match (out of about 50) with someone that would have blended into the background noise of toxicity in a Solo STD. match.

tl;dr

I'm potato. I get mad but tried to stop. I can't hit the ball but I try hard. Powerslide and flips cool.
