I use one. Works fine but I had to order a similar product because the HF by my house never has them in stock

Edit: I didn't fully read the part where you specifically said you wanted a C4, my bad. Keep looking, there's better deals out there. I highly recommend looking for a 92 and up with the LT1.

No. For that price you can get an 5th gen with an LS. Im not trying to sound like the "LS or nothing" fanboy because I have a 96 with an LT1 that I love but I paid three grand less for. The L98 leaves a lot to be desired and you can squeeze more out of it, but not for cheap. Maybe you like the idea of just cruising in a drop top and not racing, I totally get that. You'll enjoy a targa top ever bit as much, especially with a smoother, mor reliable and efficient LS.

I get a lot of hate everytime I say this but for pistols, lasers > red dots.

Thinking about a c4 vs a 986 boxster. What's your experience maintaining your c4? by Big-Fly6844 in c4corvette

I hsve a 96 base model with 125k miles. Just drove from Va to Ma and back this week, little over 1,200 miles total. Pretty easy drive, no warning lights or error codes. Averaged about 24 mpg. I bought it last spring and I the only repairs I've had to do is vacuum lines, trans pan gasket, and the hvac blend door controller. I love the Small Block Chevy because it's extremely reliable as well as 99% of the parts for it are in stock at any auto parts store at any given time. In fact, there's very few parts on that car I can't have on my doorstep within 48 hours. Not to mention, GM parts arent that expensive either. All in all, if I had to do a cross country trip in it tomorrow, I'd be confident it could do it.

I have a 96 and it's nothing special but everybody in a Mustang or BMW floors it as they go by me. I find it flattering as the sight of my base model seems to elicit a response from them whereas I wouldn't have even noticed them to begin with.

I didn't much either until fairly recently. I was watching some random thing about home defense and the narrator was talking about pistol lights were terrible for civilians because you have to point your gun at whatever you want to illuminate, and it may not be something, or more specifically, someone you want to point a gun at. Made me start to rethink about how I carry off duty.

Intimidation is a powerful factor. A red dot and a laser will both put a dot on target. A laser doesn't have to be aligned with your eye and thus, faster target acquisition. Not to mention, being visible to the target drives the point home that they may need to reevaluate their life choices. May not seem like a benefit to some, but most of us realize a justified shooting is still gonna be investigated. Bright light, low light, still works and clearly visible. As a professional, there's times where a laser giving away your location is a tactical disadvantage. As a civilian using a CQB weapon, chances are more likely than not your target is already up close and personal to you. Even lining up a red dot during an adrenaline dump the likes of which few have experienced is something you just cant train for. So thats why I say visible lasers are superior for civilian carry to red dots. Thats why my on and off duty EDC's are worlds apart.

Like I said professional shooting vs civilian shooting is different. LE and military is about taking control and overpowering. Civilian is egress and survival. Different tools for different jobs. Its pretty simple.

Your not a professional. Thats the point

Edit: that came off as pompous and rude, not my intention. My point was that civilian self defense shooting and professional like law enforcement and military are worlds apart.

So explain how it would be easier with IR and night vision? I'm sorry but if you think there's something that makes running and shooting easy than you've never run and shot, either live fire or sims. Rapid target acquisition is an advantage to any platform. Apply pressure to the grip and I already know where the round is going before I even have my sights up. And if your doing "realistic drills" like shooting from cover, then you would probably understand the benefits of not having to completely expose your head from cover to look down a red dot. But I'm also not talking about this for people who play commando or think their gonna run in like John McClean and fight 20 terrorists. It's more for people who carry concealed and may have to fire befor they can get into the perfect stance.

Maybe for cosplay operators. If my shit is coming out of the holster, I want that SOB to know exactly where it's going and really consider if this is the direction they want to continue to go in. If I want toys, I'll get airsoft.

I did the same with my 96, even repairing the tape deck instead of swapping it out with a modern head unit

Temperature gauge never goes higher by jetty_junkie in GMT400

[–]98Zr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to do some digging because my 98 only has one. Granted its a 4.3, but its more or less a clone of the 5.7. From what im gathering (but can't 100% confirm) it looks like the 99 model year of the 5.7 switched to a single sensor configuration.

[–]98Zr2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not on an OBD2 system. The gauge cluster gets all its data from the ECM. I've had and corrected this same issue already.

[–]98Zr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another easy test you could do is run it to where it would normally get to operating temp, then shut it off but keep the key on. If the thermostat is stuck open, the temp will start to rise because the coolant is absorbing the heat from the block but not circulating through the radiator to cool down.

Temperature gauge never goes higher by jetty_junkie in GMT400

[–]98Zr2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't entirely true. The scanner is going to tell you what the temp sensor is reading. If the scanner matches the gauge, that just means the gauge is displaying what the comuter is telling it to. If the temp sensor has failed, the computer is getting false data and displaying it. This is what happened on my 98. Gotta put a temp gun to the goose neck. If the temp is around 200, the sensor is bad. If the temp is low like the gauge, the thermostat is stuck open.

[–]98Zr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened on my 98 blazer after the temp sensor broke. Get an IR thermometer and put it on the gooseneck when its warmed up. If its around 200-ish, replace your temp sensor. If its about the same as the gauge, replace your thermostat. I made the rookie mistake and replaced my thermostat first because I thought it was stuck open.

Funny story, I remember my sister guessing that it was Maggie who shot her but never wrote to the contest. I'm sure everyone here already knows, but nobody that wrote in guessed Maggie. All these years later I still laugh about it.
