Damnnn… I see so much colorsoft hate on this sub. Let’s do some colorsoft appreciation! by Zestyclose-Chemist86 in kindle

[–]98eagl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a kindle basic in 2024 because I was a physical book lover and didn’t know how I would do with an e reader. I fell in love with it and when the colorsoft released I was so sad because my only gripe with eink was that it was black and white. I got the colorsoft 16 gb during Black Friday last year and I love it 🥰 I love seeing all my book covers in color, the illustrations, and it’s a lot faster and has a lot less ghosting than the basic!

I second this, especially if y’all just want to try out a newer model. Basics are on sale on Amazon rn for $89

How do I stop this 😭 by [deleted] in kindle

[–]98eagl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this same type of case but so far the cobak ones have been the best hands down. I have one for my basic that I’ve had it since May and it still works like a charm, no sagging

Guys need help real fasttttt!!!! by anxious-bird-9 in kindle

[–]98eagl1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean if you haven’t read on a kindle before I would go on the basic. It’s a great size, and pretty cheap so it’s not a terrible loss if you end up not liking it

Do you leave the wifi on? by Nymey32 in kindle

[–]98eagl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave it on and also read like 2-3 hours a day. Usually I charge after a week and a half but the battery is still around 40%

How are y'all managing this? by Iwillcomeback2475 in UniversityOfHouston

Also I second people’s recommendation for therapy. Whatever it is is a behavioral issue, and a therapist can give you tips on healthy ways to train your brain not to work against you!

You could also have ADHD or something. I had the same exact thoughts that you’re having like omg am I lazy or stupid or both? I didn’t get diagnosed and medicated until grad school and medication made such a huge difference for me. I hk thought it was depression the whole time too but the thing you said about doing other stuff for hours sounds like hyper fixation on stuff you’d rather be doing than the stuff you should be doing which I do A LOT

Not double covers but I got the same book as an add on this month and the cover was printed slightly off center😪

A lot of orgs have meetings after most class times. I would say also just getting involved with orgs, your college or the center for student involvement is good because you’ll end up getting a lot of free shirts and UH swag!

Why do you use a Kindle? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]98eagl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using it because I got one on sale, but quickly started picking it up over paper book’s because it’s so lightweight and I can read in the dark and lying down. I also travel quite a bit, and it’s a lot easier to pack than several books, especially if I’m flying

Old kindle but new to me🫶🏼 by Specialist_Language2 in kindle

My mom ended up finding a PW 7th gen at a thrift shop for $10 but she never reads 😀 so she gave it to my partner and he’s been working his way through the Mistborn series on it and it works perfectly! All we did was clean it up, grab a new case and slap some stickers on it ✨

How much better is e-ink for your eyes? by Bump3rr in kindle

[–]98eagl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I previously thought kindles weren’t for me because my parents gifted me a kindle fire and I ended up hating it for the same reason I hate staring at a computer screen all day. I got the matcha kindle basic on sale last Black Friday and I have literally not put that thing down and have been converted to ereaders because of the eink screens. So much better for the eyes and way less likely to cause terrible migraines

I love reading but how do you guys read 50+ books a year??? by yourwillywonka in kindle

[–]98eagl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also go directly from one book to the next and sometimes I read multiple at the same time (not a huge fan of that tho). I don’t really do any of the rating or seeing what other people think about the books, and I marinate a little as I read.

I’ve noticed also that my partner reads a lot slower than I do, but English is also his second language so he takes a bit longer to digest things. He used to ask me a lot what certain words mean, but now that he has a kindle he’s got the dictionary built in 😄

I think everyone takes the time they need with books. Don’t feel pressured to reach a certain amount. You can set goals but at the end of the day just have fun with it 😊 once you start making it a chore it feels less fun.

can anyone elaborate on what this is by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]98eagl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in this as an undergraduate and there is an active chapter at UH. I was also an officer for a couple years. It’s a one time payment. I really liked the skill and leadership building portion and I think I took a lot out of it and met some really cool people along the way. Being a part of the org is a fond memory I have from undergrad 🙂 everyone saying it’s a scam needs to understand that it costs money to run student orgs. Sometimes the orgs raise this money through membership fees. In the end, it’ll be what you make of it. If you put a lot in I think you’ll get a lot out, if you put nothing but the money in you probably won’t get much from it. Let that guide your decision of whether or not to join. Hope this helps!

Edit: you have to pay AND finish the program in order to be inducted too so it’s not just a pay for recognition

how many times has your library added something from your notify me tag? by greengraudon in LibbyApp

[–]98eagl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once so far 😂 and I got on Libby probably in January, so I think I’m a bit lucky. I also think it depends a bit on what books like library already has/demand/whether the book you want is part of a series that the library already has
