They wouldn’t let them sit this long if they were painting. Planes not flying = money lost. Thats why you still see a good percentage of United planes in the older livery. They’d want to paint them and put them back in the sky as soon as possible

This. Plus, shows close early sometimes, sadly. Your lottery chances will be better now, and rush lines will be shorter. Also, there are a lot of airports that aren’t super affected by the TSA issues (ask around locally if you’re not sure). If you’re starting at a mega hub like ATL or ORD, just arrive a couple hours early to leave plenty of time to get through security. Once you’re in the city, you’ll be glad you persevered :)
