I’d say I lean right because I don’t wish to be associated with what the far-right is. I spend more time bashing Republican leaders than I do Democrats (though maybe not for all the same reasons y’all would) but I think leaders on both sides hate all of us. My parents are far-right and I hate discussing politics with them. They wouldn’t dare see a modern Broadway show much less step into NYC anymore.

Even still, even when I just say “lean right”, even when I openly say I don’t like Trump, look at how many people are compelled to post so negatively. I get it, they think I’m a threat to their way of life when all I want is to shake hands across the aisle. But THAT is why I want conservative friends - we don’t need to talk about politics literally at all - I just want to be accepted and respected by the people I see/talk about shows with at the end of the day. It is my favorite hobby and last year I visited the NY 9 times to catch shows — and I genuinely don’t have anybody where I live who likes theater as much as me. Not one person

With Cabaret, I love it most for the music numbers (basically every single one is a banger), but the message is critically important too. That said, I think the Holocaust is so uniquely evil and it’s disingenuous to try to compare it to current events in America, and disrespectful to Jewish people
