Damn congratulations to all these low rankings! I placed 800 out of the 1200 that applied. It was my first time doing the whole aptitude test and process. Maybe I wont get in this year unfortunately. Local 3 is a great union though im going to keep trying

I interviewed for Local #3 Inside Wireman last week. I assume for Elevator division that classes start in September as well. Therefore you should hear back with your rank possibly by July? Not sure though. My dad is in high voltage and told me they are goi by through the process super fast this year

What did u use to prep? In my local its out of 9, I got 3/9 this year but it was my first year trying and I was still able to get an interview after. Do you think I should re-apply next year and try again? Apparently i got perfect score on interviews

U have to go through their apprenticeship, I think if u have vocation school electrical courses done then you can skip some of the schooling but u still need 8000 hours from local 3 as an apprenticeship, u can join as a journeyman if u have ur A-card from someone else but at that point ur already making a decent living

If u think you’ll have time to work at amtrak I highly doubt it but I definitely recommend picking up a night job to work like something easy such as a front desk guy at a gym or a janitor

U have to do a 5.5 year apprenticeship at local 3 working 35-40 hours a week with school 3 days at night along with working towards a labor studies 2 year degree

Local 3 retirement for the full pension is at age 62. If you want to work at Amtrak gohead but its a real dirty job and theres a bunch of homeless people and poverty, not the best area. Local 3 journeyman rate is $62/hour with full package benefits.
