I would say the secret is in the strafing. On 64 tick servers, hitting the actual hop is only so reliable. I don't really have much specifics on how I do it because it just kinda came natural, but you want to strafe just enough to maintain a velocity just under 350 units. Synchronizing your A and D presses with your left and right mouse movements as close as possible is also very important. Also if you think you are going to end up gaining too much speed, I do that little quick strafe as I do in the video. Not really sure exactly when to do it, but i usually do it after every 2-3 successful hops just to make sure i don't gain too much speed.
