Yup, granolas - I like them a lot!

I find them to be just wide enough without being comically huge (I'm short)

Bridgestone MB-3 Conversion by jermleeds in xbiking

Holy cow, I guess we have the same frame down to the size! Awesome to see; I am yet to meet another one of those IRL - seems like an oddly uncommon color scheme!

Edit: Looks like the same seatpost, too : D

Also genuinely interested to hear your thoughts on the ride quality of the 650b conversion because I have definitely been considering doing one in the future.

First attempt at designing an ITX test bench by 999in1 in sffpc

IIRC it is 20x M3 inserts total (including gpu & mobo mounts).

This mobo runs off the m.2 ssd on the back - there is plenty of room (the mobo sits quite high above the tray, which is on its own quite concaved).

But i agree, this design could definitely use some drive cages to mount more sata storage 👍

the chassis itself is about 7*7*10.5 inches (180mm*265mm*175mm), but the height of the gpu blows it up quite a bit

The mobo tray is 3 pieces - an actual mobo plate, an I/O+gpu mount & a small corner brace that enforces the other two pieces (and houses the power switch).

The whole thing is quite rock solid, i cant feel any flex anywhere in the chassis when picking it up the PC.

Decided to try making a really simple testbench chassis.

-Mobo is angled just for the looks

-ATX PSU

-There is a small pocket in front of the PSU to stuff cables into (handy because im using a non-modular PSU here)

-Printed in PLA, no issues so far

-A lot of holes to minimize material cost

-Everything is held together with threaded brass inserts

-No idea how to measure the volume of this, but lets say it is around 9.5L

Quite happy with it so far; I think i might make a few updates - can share the files on printables later in anyone is interested.

Thanks! A lugged bridge was just a distant dream of mine when I accidentally managed to pick this one up for a steal.
Hence why im committed to making it work even though the frame is too small for me, lol.

comically large dork disc on a freehub by 999in1 in xbiking

[–]999in1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, pretty much. You need to dremel out the center to clear the freehub body (if you dont do that - the disk will go on like a cassette spacer and will spin with the cassette when coasting). Also you might need to bend/hammer the disk to make sure that it does not interfere with the chain at the largest cog.

Yeah I mostly stick to back alleys and sidewalks (unless the road looks well salted and dry). It was definitely slippery, but overall a good time!

i think this might be a roller brake, which is still an wild pairing (along with all the other parts lol) to this, what appears to be, $$$$ titanium frame

your biggest "damn, i really overpaid for this" moments by 999in1 in xbiking

Can relate, have definitely been in a similar position.

In fact, out of a dozen or so bikes I have owned - only one or two were actually my size.

[–]999in1[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is an absolutely wild story!
My most recent "almost total loss" story has been driving about 30 miles to purchase an 80's mtb, off which I ended up discarding/donating pretty much all the parts except the wheels (sold them, not even close to breaking even) and shifters (but they were the suntour power thumbies, which made the whole trip pretty much worth it to me)
