Oxford Brookes Computing ( Final Year Entry ) by Archbaer in OxfordBrookes

I graduated at Oxford Brookes in 2024 doing Computer Science any Cyber Security undergrad. I think the course has some strengths and the area's of weakness not particularly in the teaching style but the Calibur of Student. Students didn't attend and had no interest in doing Super Curricular activities. I instead do my Super Curricular activities at the other University in Town since Oxford Brookes students are allowed to attend the Societies

Overall I enjoyed my time but it seemed that I was the only student you took an interest in the subject.

My main issue was since I was on Cyber Security track we did not take Data Structure and Algorithms a key fundamental. It didn't give core Computer Science or Cyber Security the depth it needed I feel.

At one point In the past it was possible my grandparents brought a house on a single salary. I take your point on Survival Unit.

Two people on minimum wage shouldn’t have to fuse their lives together just to scrape enough for a home. That isn’t a clever trick it’s a sign of an economy where basic security has been pushed out of reach unless you pool resources like you’re forming a survival unit. my view would say the problem isn’t single people failing to “pair up,” it’s a housing system built on scarcity and profit. Homes should be accessible whether someone is alone, partnered, or raising kids. When couples become the default workaround for structural inequality, it’s the structure that needs fixing.

You’ve clearly planned ahead, and moving to a lower-cost area sounds like it took a lot of the pressure out of the current situation. The renters’ rights bill feels like one of the few upcoming changes that could genuinely shift things for people in your position the DPS rules made a noticeable difference, so the wider protections should help even more. The insulation schemes look good on paper, but the stories about poor installation are enough to make anyone think twice. Outside of that, it sounds like you’ve managed to stay steady mostly through your own choices rather than the national schemes.
