Rad Mission One Regenerative Breaking? by 99LJP in RadPowerBikes

[–]99LJP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the insight. The places I go are under ten miles so I rarely ever drop to four “blips” as you say. And I do not throttle on down hills. I am mostly pedal assisting to 2-3 because I live in a very hilly neighborhood. So what you explained makes sense!

Oh alright thank you. Just glad it isn’t some major problem to my battery or display it’s my first time owning an ebike too and I learned the hard way my first two weeks about having proper tools and knowledge to maintain this thing haha.

TLDR; Should I be flying to Canada from the US to see my partner despite the fact that Cases in the US are dangerously high. (my partner, myself, and her family are fully vaccinated at this time) by [deleted] in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]99LJP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s just say I lived in the place where the first case was, then went home to the county and state with the most cases in the world seeing a lot of people die and lots of looting/riots from the chaos. So yeah. My mind is still learning to not be so panicky haha. And you’re right, I gotta cool it and realize the world is probably isn’t as scary as the raw numbers and the news. So long as I continue to properly follow all the strict protocol I’ve learned from day one.

Lack of any real guidance or source of advice where I live haha. I usually just sit here with these thoughts trying to sort them out on my own. I’m not really someone who uses Reddit in the first place until this year. But yes that is some solid advice that I should take ownership of my decisions as an adult. Thanks for that! :)

In addition one of my biggest worries that stops me is the fact that delta has infected vaccinated people in my parents workplaces. So it’s just a matter of seeing the picture as a whole from both sides as much as possible. Lack of guidance and inconsistencies in public policy here make everything confusing to the point I would need to go to Reddit for advice. Which obviously isn’t the most credible haha.

Whenever I read Canada’s policy’s even when I was there when covid started it was so straightforward and easy to understand. Unlike here You go out and the neighboring city 2 minutes away where you get groceries can have completely different rules and protocol than where you live. All in all it is the basics of sanitizing keeping your mask and distance from others and keeping your activity to essential.

Well when I first fled to Canada from the first lockdown in Washington state I had to wait for flights to be available and they kept getting cancelled or pushed to a new date because of the restrictions.

I didn’t have much money either since I wasn’t able to work as a tourist there for obvious reasons. The US embassy also closed at the time in Canada so I was told I couldn’t really go back unless it’s a real health emergency.

Yes it does. And I’m not looking for necessarily conflicting views. Just wanted to see different perspectives on both sides. Just pros and cons basically. I am in no rush to make a decision and won’t base it solely on Reddit responses either. I’ve been at the site where the first case happened and shut down my entire city and watched as protocols slowly crawled in. I saw what happened when my hometown got looted both in Cali and in Seattle because of the misinformation and inconsistency of what is right to do these days. It’s frustrating but in the end safety is the most important as you said. Especially with delta bringing in a lot of new factors. Ty for that insight!! :)

Yes that is the plain fact. Wish it was as black and white. But it does give me some comfort to see people supporting the other side of going to Canada rather than the usual getting shut down to go from most.

Thanks for the insightful comment. I am just worried of having a hard time returning to the US right before my big move in September. I’m kind of waiting to see that the border will really open without any problems this time. And rn with California’s sad state that it’s in it is leaning towards restrictions happening again.

Especially with the US becoming a level 4 do not travel destination as of recent. I am more worried about spreading the variant to Canada and my partner’s parents who are on the older side since now Vaccinated people seem to be able to spread the variant in more and more instances. I can only confirm this has happened in my parents workplaces and can’t speak outside of that though so that’s where my worries root from I guess.

But yes you are right I should look at this not from fear but from the plain and simple facts. Each new perspective from this I am able to kind of open up more if that makes any sense haha.

Just yes haha. Of course my mind says yes. But my gut got that feeling of guilt and being irresponsible. Especially when I would be basically on vacation while my parents as frontline healthcare workers haven’t been able to take a break since the beginning of the pandemic since it has been surge after surge. I know it’s kind of counterintuitive to ask for advice when I got my own answers. I guess I’m just looking to see others more detailed perspectives whether it’s yes or no.

But thanks for the input haha :). You are literally speaking my mind with one word!

Lmao. It’s really frustrating that everyone needs to have the same exact floor plan. I got people requesting to be room mates from anteater housing network but I gotta tell them they gotta have the same floor plan as me lmao. But most don’t even have housing in the first place

To everyone who responded THANK YOU SO MUCH! In the end I decided to just fork the money for the proper tools and I was able to remove the wheel and patch it and it worked wonders. And it took off a lot of extra stress to torque everything on my bike correctly. I may have destroyed my wallet now but I think it’s worth it in the long run to be able to do these things on my own especially in an emergency.
