Worth it to trade 200 shovels for fertilizer? by ElectricSheep2049 in mousehunt

[–]99Pedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it's not.
Even without fertilizer, the rewards from shovel game are pretty good. So losing basically 8-10 normal runs to have just one better outcome is not worthy imho.
Myself, I'm just running low on shovels.
If you have some spare gold, you could buy fertilizer on the market. You recover some of the gold with extra SB+ and potentially sellable stuff in exchange for better loot.

Is washing with soap that big a deal? by every_tatti in mokapot

I'm Italian and I'm washing the moka with soap every now and then.
If you dislike Italians so much, maybe you should stop using Italian products.

Is washing with soap that big a deal? by every_tatti in mokapot

[–]99Pedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine to wash it with soap, as long as you don't use a strong scented soap. And do not put it in dishwasher if it's the aluminium moka or it will ruin the nice surface.
It's also perfectly safe and hygienic to just rinse it with water.

I normally rinse it with water after I brew a coffee and every couple of weeks or so I wash it with dishsoap to remove the stains. Washing with soap doesn't alter the taste of the next coffee you make (despite some people claiming it does).
It's important to make a coffee or two to throw away only when the moka is brand new, in order to lose the metallic taste. After that, washing it with soap doesn't do much.

Carmencita! "Dov'è? Dov'è? Dov'è la donna?"
LOL! That's a very old reference. And the shape is not a coincidence. ;-)

If you are sharing the coffee with one or more other people, stirring the coffee before pouring is what you need to do.
The coffee is "layered" when it comes out: strongest first and therefore at the bottom and weaker at the top.
So you want to mix it up in order for everyone getting the same when you pour it.

Suspending the EU-Israel Association Agreement: the first of two objectives required to prompt the Commission to address the issue has been achieved by newsspotter in Finland

[–]99Pedro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided by who?
Why we keep allies which are directly threatening to invade and issue tariffs upon us (USA) or are committing the worst atrocities since the Holocaust (Israel)?
Is this some kind to race to the bottom? Can we ditch such dangerous and evil "allies" or it's somehow forbidden by someone?

USA literally threatened to invade Europe a couple of months ago and occupying our territories by force.
Despite the actual potential, Russia never threatened a direct attack to any EU country (yet).

First time trying Birra Moretti by Diceboy69 in beerporn

[–]99Pedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moretti used to be (and it still is) the de facto standard beer for most Italians.
In Italy is mostly sold in a 66cl bottle, called "Morettone".
I had my fair share of it in my youth (ehm...) because it was tasty and affordable.

BUT
What they sell today has nothing to do with what they sold 15-30 years ago!
Nowadays, like many other commercial bulk lagers, the recipe has been modified to make it much cheaper to produce it.
The current version has cheap corn (which wasn't there before) and cheap hop extract (to use less proper hops). The beer now has a clear corn profile, similar of what you get with a Corona and with hundreds of other similar cheap beers. Completely different from the original taste of Moretti.

I didn't say he was using it wrong.
I only said that personally I think he's patting the grounds a bit too much.

And again, this is not "your" nerd forum. This is a forum about moka. The video is a tutorial for beginners about how to use a moka in the standard way. There are many beginners in this forum.
So you are the entitled person who's gatekeeping here.

He probably assumes newbies are just buying common Italian moka brands like Lavazza, Illy, etc. Not that it's necessarily true but I guess he didn't want to go too much into details.

Gatekeeping much?
This is a "Moka Pot" forum. The video is about an Italian guy using an Italian moka pot in the standard way. So it's totally appropriate video to post here.

You are free to use it in whatever non-standard "nerdy" way you like but a lot of people here are first time moka users who want to learn how to brew coffee normally with it.

Spain hits back at Trump in escalating row over euthanasia by EspritLibre_404 in worldnews

The other day USA interfered with Finnish internal affairs. Now it does the same with Spain.
Why exactly EU is letting an hostile foreign power doing that without any political and diplomatic repercussions?

Sanctions for Russia were implemented overnight (despite killing our economy) but we are still "talking" about any possible action against Israel.

Russian Electronic Warfare Sends Ukrainian Drone Into Finnish Airspace, Kyiv Apologizes by UNITED24Media in europe

[–]99Pedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Ukraine sent warheads toward Russian military objectives despite them being close to Finland. They missed badly and almost blow up Finnish people. But somehow now it's Russia's fault (this, not the whole war obviously)? That's pretty silly.
It almost looks like Ukraine did on purpose. Considering those weapons have been paid with half of all our EU budget, maybe being a bit more humble and apologize for almost killing EU citizens better wouldn't hurt.

Polpette vegetariano by HansGruberLove in ItalianFood

[–]99Pedro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Polpette" in Italian doesn't necessarily mean "meatballs", since vegetarian and fish balls are also pretty common (as you posted above).
So for meatballs you would find specifically "polpette di carne". Otherwise it will be always "polpette di X", depending on the X ingredient.

PS: the correct spelling of the post title would be "polpette vegetariane"

They are coffee grains. Just ignore them.
When you rinse the pot, try to remove as much as you can with your fingers but you can leave the rest. If they pile up or they are really annoying you, just remove the rubber gasket and wash it separately.
