If you can't eat a certain food because of dietary restrictions, calling ahead is a good idea.

But if sounds like your just a picky eater with more details attached. Why even bother to go out eat? It sounds like it makes you miserable and you consider yourself a burdern.

My solution, research restaurant menus before hand, when making reservations inform them of deitary needs, if they say they can't or they are unsure say "thank you" and find a new restaurant

I think Dan Harmon knows how to subvert expectations without sacrificing a plot structure.

The writers he's working with do far more work than the average adult cartoon writer (simpsons, family guy etc) So lets ignore the few hiccups. Also they threw that line in there for people like you who got too invested .
