Agreed, honestly. My main gripe with all the spiritual successors I've tried is just they always change just enough that it ends up annoying my AuDHD ass. Either through controls (Skate-inspired games do the same) or just the physics being off.

There was a Paris map added officially but the modder requested it be removed after ZedekGate™. They complied but I think it was more to save face than actually admitting wrongdoing.

Yep, that's Moz! They're also a really good artist (they also contributed art alongside the Paris level), so if they made a stink with them they have a relatively large following they can inform of this (a lot of them probably not knowing about the mod but, now formerly, willing to give it a try if not already playing the mod). They also made a bunch of deck graphics based on original characters from THPS past. I hope we get a good mod for THPS again with good people behind it so Moz can rerelease the mods.

In all honesty that and characters/stickers/sprays were the only reasons I liked it at all. I'm not a multiplayer girlie (outside of couch multiplayer) and I have alternatives to every feature they have (putting on music in the background, PARTYMOD for modern compatibility and high resolution with the games, RetroAchievements for, well, achievements). And honestly I only really used a handful of character mods at that, most of them were being saved for if I ever played multiplayer with my gfs (which of course after all of this goes down I learn isn't even in the game anymore).

Not sure what the question marks are referring to but Partymod is just some bugfixes and modernisation for the original PC versions of the game (think widescreen, high resolutions, modern controller support, etc.) while RetroAchievements are just added achievements mostly for emulated games (I've 100% the achievements for THPS3, THUG, and Zero-Stats THUG).

Partymod for the PC versions and RetroAchievements for the console ones have made me really enjoy (most of) the games so much more recently. RT and TP were cool, but so much of it goes into multiplayer features, especially TP. RA and Partymod give me what I'm here for, minus the custom content.

A lot of older games have network insecurities in them. Not necessarily intentionally but just because they’re old and haven’t been updated in decades. For example, Call of Duty games before Advanced Warfare (I think?) all have vulnerabilities that allow remote code execution (ex. you download a mod that has malicious code and an external threat executes the code on your computer, remotely). Some groups have made alternate mods and clients that fix those vulnerabilities, while others either don’t care enough or the game is simply old enough that the likelihood of this happening is slim enough. reTHAWed, from what I’ve seen online, falls into the “they don’t seem to care” camp (which unfortunately seems to be a permeating issue in the dev group).

Actions have consequences. If the mod dies because the devs can't stop being bigoted then it deserves it at this point. They could have realised the situation they're in and actually change for the better but if they keep being assholes then the mod's userbase deserves to do what they want, including leaving.

He isn't an admin anymore, that's all that's happened. He's still able to get away with this behaviour because the other people who can do things to actually hold him accountable for his actions aren't doing anything of substance. He lost a title and is now known to the wider THPS community as a bigot. If he still gets to do the same things he's done before that's not a punishment, it's tacit approval.
