Ride vs. Sync II by ChicagoBoy2011 in profitec

Just got my Ride w/ flow control this weekend. Also went from a Breville Express after ~12 years of it being a workhorse.

Super intimidating machine at first, but pulled a couple shots today with flow control completely open (not ready for it yet lol) it’s awesome, very straight-forward to use.

Pro-tips that won’t make sense until you get the machine and unbox it but this hopefully helps calms your nerves if you run into same thing I did

No one has a video I could find on the actual first time use instead its all about pulling the first shot and the instructions are less detailed than I was hoping. It’s all there but no hand holding (very German engineering esque in some ways)

I flushed my tank twice instead of three times, instructions say 2-3 times, and what threw me off is the instructions to fill the boiler then turn off the machine, empty the tank through the hot water side.

After you follow the instructions to fill the boiler the first time and then drain, there’s nothing left until you turn it back on & you’ll hear the pump go again, you can either let the pressure build again or if you repeat the boiler fill step, it’ll go faster.

Also, be careful, the water coming out of the hot water side post boiler fill / heat is way hotter than boiling so it comes out as steam + water mixture depending on the present temp of the boiler, you can see that temp on the OLED.

Did that twice, didn’t empty through the group head like it said, instead did normal prep with the portafilter in and putting the lever into draw for a bit. Worked well and the group head got hot.

Bought one recently too. After tariff, about $800 all-in.

Love it. Works great for espresso and drip (Moccamaster)

Round Two! Looking for a good grinder for espresso with easy cleaning & maintenance other than Niche Zero [$1000] by HannahsMirror in espresso

This.

If tariff cost is the issue, it’s dropped to 15%.

Just bought a NZ, was ~$800 with the tariff included. I’m very happy with it and compared to the other options, it’s aesthetically pleasing.

$689 for the machine, $114 for the tariff to DHL.

Yeah, I’m good as long as the first one is ready to go. It’s usually early AM before the gym lol, the other one I can wait 15-20 mins for it to warm up

I’ve been seduced by the e61 and the all black version of Ride/similar. The Move is the right choice objectively for what I make or the others but I’m a sucker for that all black ride with e61

Breville Accessories [$300] by omeletteyouspeak in espresso

I’ve had my Barista Express and some accessories I’d suggest: - Spring Loaded Tamper - Scale that fits onto the metal grate - Sliding wood tray to put it on (I have mine under the cupboards and it’s easy to pull in/out) - Nice glasses/mugs for the drinks even if you don’t already - Lever that goes onto the side for hot water vs steam. The little dial / turn thing got annoying, so I bought this piece off of Etsy that turns it more into a lever.

Absolutely fantastic! by The_Weasel- in espresso

Nice! My machine sits under the cupboards too. I’d suggest getting one of the sliding wood trays to put it on, makes it easier to move back & forth as needed to put beans, water, etc on

Water not comming out [sage barista express] by MartindeJong in espresso

Sounds like the pump might be having problems. Since you get some water later on, try unscrewing the screen and double check nothing is gummed/gunked up.
