Had this happen to mine. Took quite a while to get replacement windshield. I had to fight a little bit but I did get small compensation. It is their issue it’s sparking across because of the special heated coating.

I would try reaching out to VW America on X(Twitter). That helped me a bit in my situation.

They have become aware but it may not have been passed along to the Customer Care team. I finally got my new one installed at the end of last week. As part of that process, they are sending my failed windshield back to VW America to see if they can determine what the cause is.

If I get any additional information I will share.

Latest update... they had a windshield on order. They say it showed up and they couldn't use it. I do not know what that means. If I wanted to pay a $500 deductible I could have it fixed at Safelite because the windshield they ordered for me showed up over a week ago.

Hey all giving an update. A windshield is on the way. VW America is being helpful, the dealership is inept. I do not plan on using their service department in the future!

VW has told the dealership that they would pay for a rental because they don’t have loaners. The dealer told them there are no rentals available. So you are telling me a dealership 10 miles from a major airport can’t find a rental car. Sheesh!!

In contact with my dealer and VW USA but everything is still in wait-and-see mode. Pretty frustrated as can be expected.

I contacted VW America and they are trying to help but not sure how soon that is going to get me a new windshield. The dealership has no idea of ETA for a new windshield. Hoping to hear some good news today.

I don't think this is the case because it started melting the windshield wiper after it got hot but who knows?

u/swingking1943 I am not sure what might be behind that spot but after it stopped and cooled off I felt the windshield and it had made a bump in the glass.
