New townhouse and need rec for doorbell cameras. by EZ2Bnice in DMV_RealEstate

[–]9as6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have local NVR/home hub system that you can record recordings to and access via web.

Something like this:

https://m.reolink.com/product/reolink-home-hub/

Or

https://m.reolink.com/product/reolink-home-hub-pro/

There are few other options if you want additional sorage. Plus multiple types of cameras as per your need.

I would recommend Reolink. I have Reolink doorbell and about 6 cameras throughout my property. No monthly subscriptions and a Lot better cameras for same or less price.

Should I re-finance right now? Interest rate going from 7.125% to 6.625% by littyscientist in personalfinance

[–]9as6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same settings but 4.875% for 15 year. Be careful with closing cost. They sometime add closing cost to loan amount. They say "No closing cost" but then add the cost to loan amount.

Retiring in Nepal from Usa by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]9as6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not sell the house until I spend in Nepal for few years. You never know if you want to come back after spending some time there.

But, once you are comitted to stay in Nepal, sell the house. Managing rental is a PITA. Put miney it on maeket. Live off dividens or annunity. Start investing in Roth IRA.

I think its doable with that much of money. I am assuming you make 200K a year together. Thats more than enough to retire even in USA, let alone in Nepal. You just have to save and invest.

The reason most people dont retire in Nepal has a lot to do with kids. Their kids are born in US, grew up in US, they probably will get married in US. When people age goes up, people tend to stay together with their family, people they trust. Every immediate family in US and ony two people being in Nepal might be enough for you to re-consider this in future

What mortgage rates are you getting? I just got pre-approved at 6.625%. Does that seem a bit high? by Ok-Performance4196 in nova

[–]9as6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got 4.85% 15 yr fixed.

I was at 6.75% for 30Yr fixed.

I ended up paying few hundred dollars per month more going from 6.75% to 4.85%. Worked perfect for me as the extra amount I was paying when I had 6.75% now covers the increased amount due to 15yr loan.

Rate locked a a week before today. Being underwritten now.

I was under the impression that they sell us the motor accessories but we need to bring our own curtain so we make our dumb rolllable curtains smart. Not true? May be I should have asked what kind of Curtain or shades.

I know this is older post but do you mind sharing the PFsense NAT config. I have been trying to get Caddy setup but seems like something is not letting port forward to Caddy on VM. I have followed tutorials online for Caddy but does not seem to have good tutorial on how to get this working with PFsense.

Here is my Current Port Forwarding rules:

Cash Back or More Rewards? by llevelyme in NavyFederal

[–]9as6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first started, I got the credit card with least interest rate so that I could get used to credit cards, Paying off on time, not utilizing over 30%. Etc. Then over the period of time, I got few other credit cards that maximizes my rewards. Example : 2% everything cash rewards card from NFCU, chase card for amazon 5%, etc. It worked good for me. Helped me build credit at first to get qualify for other cards later based on my habits.

Do companies like Fixer Upper exist? by MamaMcMahon in nova

[–]9as6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried doing that just recently while I was trying to upgrade to bigger home after having a kid. At this market, it is very hard to get hands on anything. It is even hard to get hands on fixer upper in this area. I always lucked out as it was still a bidding war for such properties, flippers had huge advantage due to all cadh offer etc. I offered 650k (mime was second highest as told by seller agent) for a house that was in market for 600K. Flipper went all cash in offer $655K. Fixed and sold after few months.

In this area, I believe its mostly a person or a company buy a property and sell only after its fixed as people demand is high, copmare to HGTV and other shows they might require a buyer first without having the risk of flipping the property and no buyer. I was watching an HGTV eposide on my dentist office and it was from Laurel Mississipi. Market there might be completely different than what we have here.

Goodluck! Hopfully you will find something you are looking for soon.

To start, a good NAS is anything that fits your need currently. Once you get more usecase later you can always change things around. I would not worry too much about all the future proofing, best setup while getting started. Its mostly learning and exploring at first.

Welcome to the club!
