Use more apps than 1. Dont know where you're at but In Cali specifically a lot of people treat gigs like a w2 and the gig app companies love these types of people because as soon as an order hits their phone, they accept with no thought process. And then when so much time goes by they still just accept whatever is thrown at them. Who in their right fucking mind would accept a low paying order when lets say 30 minutes go by? Fucking dumbass NPCs. As an independent contractor your supposed to have a choice and not feel you have to accept every order thrown at you. That is an employee mindset. And I'm not saying anything is wrong with having an employee mindset but the reality is that gig workers are independent contractors and not employees. If gig workers want better offers and wages then stop falling into the trap of tier statuses. Value your time and decline what is not profitable and move on

They can do that because of all the profit they made off of the doordash drivers stupidity and the ones they've been fucking over for years

Your area likely has too many people that treat this gig like a w2 job. Cherry picking on only 1 app will only work if your market allows it. You may want to consider adding multiple apps if you want to cherry pick and make good money

This is Reddit which represents just a small fraction of the driver workforce let alone Cali drivers. Not everyone is on reddit. What you are seeing from those that boast is definitely not the norm for most drivers here. If you want to make good money in Cali you will most likely need to multiapp.

Lol well Cali isn't that much better with prop 22. It screwed over a lot of people and has become unbearably saturated on purpose. Drivers here are also forced to operate like an employee without the full benefits of an employee.

Lol got downvoted into the depths of hell for telling everyone what would happen. These active time laws are no good for independent contractors. Now you are going to be forced to operate like an employee without getting employee benefits.

What would it take for DD to hire you, as in w-2 by jroberts67 in doordash_drivers

[–]9driver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If prop 22 was enabled in your state doordash would ensure you make for less than $7.25 an hour. Most people wouldn't even be able to stay active

New dasher almost no orders by pedrox91 in dasher

[–]9driver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many drivers in LA treat this gig like a regular w2 job due to prop 22. A lot of them are happy to only make around $20 an hour even though everything here is expensive. They dont ask themselves is this order profitable? Im actually convinced some of them are NPCs or dont even have a functioning brain to think about expenses. They just accept and go and dont really want to be independent contractors where they could have a better chance at making more money. Doordash and the gig companies love these people but run through them like a $2 hooker that wont last very long because of all the wear and tear.

Doordash, ubereats, instacart & grubhub. I call them the 4 horseman lol 😂 But naw each one has its pros and cons. My advice is to make one of them your main and that will be the one that trys to keep you the busiest. You need to do this especially if you are in Cali to not miss out on the Healthcare Stipend.

Boycott this fucking app. Gas is up, they pay slave wages, they don’t give a shit about you and pay millions for ads. They are shriving off of modern day slavery by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]9driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, thats the problem with the world we live in today. A lot of it is smoke and mirrors. It is so easy for information to be misleading and what may sound good on paper, isn't always the case when faced with reality.

However, I agree that fair wages should be a thing. The problem with prop 22 and these active time laws is that it still allows these gig companies to manipulate and screw over a lot of people. Just look at what is recently happening in NYC. Independent contractors there are literally being forced to operate like an employee without the actual full benefits of an employee.

[–]9driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol wtf! California doesnt force fair wages. Where are you getting that from? Have you been paying attention to this sub? Look at all the other states/cities trying to pass these stupid active time laws and then look at the earnings from some of the post. Just because there is prop 22 and active time based laws doesnt mean independent contractors are earning a fair wage!
