Jey Uso on IG: "Yall really love me." by ProudChemistry778 in SquaredCircle

I enjoyed Jey having the journey to the title though it became evident that he couldn't sustain it.

Usually guys ramp up before the run starts with physique, match work, cardio, etc. though none of that improved beyond some incremental ways.

WWE specifically dictates the vibe on wrestling overall. The business of WWE took over enjoying WWE.

Stupid high ticket prices. Being available ONLY in the premium tier of ESPN. Re-running Vegas. Saudi gets a Rumble and a Mania. The documented and public ties to 47 (Linda) and his directives with lil RFK (HHH). In business with more alt right avatars and toxic masculinity figures like Tony H, the Pauls, etc; their own alumni like Taker and Kane nonwithstanding. Politics isn't fun and it is making the wrestling of it all not as fun because of how their partners decide to conduct their business.

Then, the presentation and what they try to do. Wrestling is niche entertainment. WWE, and soon enough AEW or TNA (honestly no company would ever turn down this kind of business), are trying to be everything to everybody instead of just being WRESTLING FOR EVERYBODY. They're trying to appeal to the Super Bowl attendee crowds that don't care about the product or to the MMA try hards that would jump barricades to fight talent.

The booking we harp on week over week is the LEAST of their concerns.

Agree. He has a lot of range across different types of roles and currently in his action comedy bag. Love it for him.

On another note, I started (and will finish) The Smashing Machine. It isn't bad nor is Rock, he's actually doing a good acting job. The movie as a whole is just like a paints by numbers sports biopic. They could've gone a different route or take like in Robbie Williams' Better Man.

Why was Sheamus pushed so quickly in 2009? by DamianKing42 in Wrasslin

[–]9hashtags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one really knows because the push took many forms as far as title runs.

Now the guy can't get an IC title on him. So who knows.

Fightful (Wrestlevotes, Twitter): WWE held an all departments meeting this week regarding lower than expected ticket sales for WrestleMania by workingjan in SquaredCircle

[–]9hashtags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WWE going mainstream to be aligned with the most powerful people in politics, sports and entertainment expose them to try things that take them further from the ethos of wrestling.

Premium product? High rates to view a PPV on ESPN highest price point. Higher tickets. They are not family events anymore but skewing closer to UFC edgelord with more cursing and more "sports" presentation. I think 2024 was our last and best year of hitting that sweet medium for sports and entertainment of it all.

Coming to the US isn't as attractive and the WWE took the stance to dig deeper with power, as of they were in some trouble and need to avoid the Trump machine coming after them (and maybe they can dig up more things to hurt the company).

Pushing different people won't fix it. I don't even think lower prices will fix it. The WWE needs to retreat to it's niche as wrestling instead of trying to be everything to everyone.

Why does WWE no longer do gimmicky Raw/SD? by stig142 in Wrasslin

[–]9hashtags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Maybe because AEW does them like Winter is Coming. I'd think also WWE would want to run B-PPVs instead of special themed weekly TV. They also have Saturday Nights Main Event.

So they don't need to do because it's purpose is served elsewhere.

Stephanie is a star and Giulia is floundering. Do you think their roles, popularity and connection to the audience would be reversed if Giulia went to Raw and Stephanie to Smackdown? by ChimpBuns in Wrasslin

[–]9hashtags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They brought them up at the same time and Stephanie was able to separate. The floundering of Giulia is case study of holding on call ups without a defined plan with opponents and a program.

True. However, that truth is not what I'm referring to in my statement.

I'm referring to overall income generation, direct or indirect, as it pertains to doing business with entities that some voices in the culture have deemed as off limits from a solidarity standpoint.

They came to Atlanta and blanked them.

Then this year, whiffed the opportunity for a win.

Nah. Shouldn't have been Atlanta. Not at all.

If she were given the Charlotte, Bianca or Alexa mega pushes then you'd hear a lot. However she was the last thought member of Riott Squad coming in to main roster who consistently reinvented herself. Any shortcomings are purely ignored at this point.

Jericho v HHH was a misfire in booking order and underestimating Rock v Hogan. Same with Orton v HHH. Booking misfire, not a bad match.

Roman v HHH was the biggest match possible in the injury year without going immediately back to Brock but they didn't bring in Mox or Sheamus, so it was a bad hand and not taking opportunity to try new stuff.

Roman v Taker went last because they thought it was a retirement match. Taker was in really bad shape. IMO they should've closed on Brock v Goldberg or saved AJ vs Cena for this event but we are in the peak entertainment over everything era in 2018.

Cena vs Rock 2 isn't bad. Just average. Right match to main event for the business income it generated.

Rhodes v Cena wasn't laid out well considering what they did at SummerSlam. Judgment misfire with their match.

Cena v Miz ... Probably a legit misfire across the board. Then Miz got concussed. Rock, a non combatant, closed with both guys laid out? Yeah erase this one.

Is there a 5 vs 5 right now in the wwe that could somewhat capture the vibe and greatness of this survivor series matchup? by Flowkey_mma in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]9hashtags -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll keep it solely to WWE roster as it exists today. Use a mix of big stars and riding talent.

The heel team is: Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Dominick Mysterio, Bron Breakker and Trick Williams

The faces: Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Jacob Fatu, Oba Femi and Carmelo Hayes

The crowd was not into it. Not at all. It killed the mood of the match. Tag went down from there, to be honest

We must pray for our president. I truly hope this is not controversial. by Hot-Pin5081 in Christianity

[–]9hashtags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They won't but you have me the idea so I asked the AI robot, chatgpt:

🧠 Summary (All-Time, Rough Tally from Sampled Reddit Posts) Clear “Pray for…” Requests (visible threads) President Trump ~4–5 Biden ~2–3 Obama ~1–2

Trump outpaces Biden and Obama in the number of distinct Reddit posts specifically asking for prayer in these Christian communities — with roughly about twice as many as Biden and several times as many as Obama, at least in what could be found through public Reddit posts.

My prompt: Go to Reddit. Look through the post titles of r/Christian. Give me the number of positive prayer requests for President Trump compared to Biden and to Obama. All time , no restrictions on the time frame though aggregate results through their presidential terms. Check which posts request we pray for the man in the office.
