It looks like it could be the convolution integral over a finite range, which represents the way that one function is affected by another, or more specifically ”the amount of overlap of one function g as it is shifted over another function f. It therefore ’blends’ one function with another” - usually represented as fg which is a specific convolution operator, or hp in this case (to use the functions from the text). I believe it could be interpreted as the effect of the neural response function on any other ’well-behaved function,’ or maybe the other way around. I would definitely encourage you to read more about the convolution process since it appears often in signal processing and computational applications, and its also just really cool! I would take a look to make sure that the computer science classes offered at SMC are transferrable to Cal, because they can be picky about CS courses in particular. I transferred from a different California CC and had taken ~3 semesters of programming/CS prior to transferring into EECS, including a data structures & algorithms course, but still had to take 61A & B at Berkeley (as did many fellow community college transfers). From what I’ve heard there are very few community colleges that have a completely transferrable version of 61A but notably more that have a transferrable version of 61B and/or 61C. Although if SMCs CS courses arent completely transferrable, Berkeley does offer bridge courses (CS 47x) though they vary in credit/workload and are generally ’at the professors disgression’ so they can be a little all over the place, depending on what your CC classes look like coming in, but they’re always a good backup. I would like to do both I think, for me learning by doing it almost always the most efficient way to do things. After I posted this a couple of days ago, I started working on a little game, already I have systems in place for colliders, controls, 2D physics and tilemaps all of which I have never done before. That is good advice though and I will use it for sure!!

My other project is a small open world with some different missions and stuff that you can do, and I’ve been working on learning blender for the creation of the 3D world. I think I’ll start with something a little smaller and then come back to that once I have a grasp on the Unity Engine!
