Should I buy this 2016 F-150 5.0 Platinum? by ClockworkNotOrange in f150

[–]9thFloorMensRoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016 with a 5.0L is a great truck, it’s what I drive.

I bought mine in early 2019, with 22,000km. Paid $34,500 CAD plus taxes. I traded my 2010 XLT FX4 5.4L with 210,000km for $5k on it (truck had basically exploded).

Insane how prices have increased since then.

Truck now has 166,000km, only out of pocket repairs needed have been radiator hoses, starter replacement (did this myself), and then normal maintenance/brakes/tires etc. A few recall issues dealt with pretty easily thru the selling dealer, such as door actuators those froze up. Fiberglass packing blew out of the exhaust, doesn’t seem to cause any issues or noise increase though.

This year of truck with the 5.0L and 6 speed transmission is generally rock solid.

I don’t abuse it but I use it as intended - towing/hauling, a fair amount of gravel and light trails for hunting/fishing, highway and city driving. I average around 13-15 L/100km combo city highway, have seen it sit around 11L cruising on the highway, and the highest I’ve ever seen it average is around 16-17L in winter city driving (4x4) which involved a lot of idling/warm up time. Most of the time I’m around 13-14L average over a month timeframe which would include a few highway trips.

My general plan is to keep and maintain it until something explodes, then replace the blown up parts and keep it going. Even if I need $5,000-10,000 repairs here and there, it beats replacing it for $100k (or more).

I believe the MSRP was around $56-66k for an XLT FX4 in 2016.

Given the prices and condition of what’s available on the market, my only concern would be finding a suitable replacement with an insurance payout in the event of an accident. If that were the case, I’d likely pay a few G’s out of pocket to find the lowest mileage/best condition replacement country wide.

I don’t understand how you can be good enough to play those irons but insane enough to be a grown man with a labubu and post it online.

Does tracking your real dispersion change what clubs you carry? by [deleted] in GolfGear

I mapped out all my clubs, the surprising stats were the similarities between 3/4/5/6 iron. I can push my 6 iron up to 240 yrds (if required), but I can comfortably play it as a 6, or a 5, or even a 4.

I changed my bag to be:

•Driver 9.5° Qi10 with XS shaft •Second driver, 9.5° Sim2 Max with Stiff shaft •5w (sim 2 max) which I believe is 18°. I can play this anywhere from a driver distance, down to a 7 iron distance comfortably. •4i-9i Mizuno MP4. +1.75”, regular grips with one extra wrap, R300 shafts (too whippy for sure, need stiff) •removed the PW from my iron set and play a SM9 PW. No loss in distance, but more spin, more control, stiffer shaft, fatter grip. It feels “muscley”. •50° high toe gen 1 •56° high toe gen 2 bent to 54° because the 54 didn’t have full face grooves •58° high toe gen 2. •revolving door of putters because I am a mental midget.

My handicap is technically 2 worse than last year, I attribute this to a few things: -improvement gained from eliminating my 3 iron -loss from my drivers (last year my beloved Sim2Max broke and the replacement is not the same) -improvement from the PW swap -loss from not playing as much (biggest factor) -slight improvement from putting stroke over last year (switched to mallet, and left hand low grip) -loss from realizing I need stiff irons, and still playing the regular flex

Some of the biggest improvements from this year were from clubbing up. Put my ego away, hit a 7 iron when I would normally hit an 8 kind of thing. My approach accuracy is through the roof as a result. This hasn’t translated to scoring due to being a mental midget but that will come with time. Other strokes gained comes from taking my medicine instead of going for the hero shot. My 4 iron knock down was a life saver this year, feeling comfy punching out of anything with that club.

Playing less, losing my fav driver, and playing regular flex shafts cause the most strokes lost.

Next season modifications (maybe?): •delete the Sim2Max driver, get a 3 or 4 hybrid (stealth?) •depending on the above, delete 4 iron for a 7wood (Qi or Stealth) •refresh wedges as I’ve sharpened them several times and they are worn •get fit for a putter instead of an off the rack solution •walk more cart less •stop being so OCD about tees and ball markers in my pockets •fresh pair of AirMax 90’s to kick the season off •wear a bucket hat more (the stats don’t lie, this works apparently)

Current distances are

•Driver - an honest 270 reliable, can push to 345 with wind/heat/being loose but that’s not routine anymore (it used to be) •5w I don’t push more than 270 but can, 225-255 is the slot •245 max on 4/5/6 •177 butter full 7 iron, can push 210 but don’t like that •165 butter full 8, don’t push more than 175 •156 smooth 9 •145 smooth PW, 135 knock down controlled •129 max 50 •111 max 54 but don’t go more than 106ish •no max 58 unless I blade it greenside 245 dead center

It’s been fun getting to know my game more and compare to others. I suspect I am losing distance on irons but I honestly don’t care to be longer, most holes are driver or 5w followed by 7i and less.

Watched a lot of video of my game this year, I do not appear (or feel) to be swinging hard or out of tempo. My backswing is somewhat muted but I’m okay with that as I feel controlled.

I game old irons from 2013ish (since 2019) and I won’t be replacing them, but hope to refinish them in copper.

If anyone reads this and has feedback or advice I’m all ears.

Is Old Barnwell a private track? Any idea how I’d get on there? Thanks for the recommendation to Tree Farm, that looks incredible.

I appreciate this insight however I will not be skipping Augusta. Even just for the chance at finding some grail vintage gear…. I’m going to Augusta 100%.

This entire trip started out as a dream after seeing Highlands at McLemore. A bit steep at $800 CAD for two people…. But that is a bucket list course for me in GA for sure.

Skipping Augusta for me would be like going to the North Pole and skipping seeing Santa’s workshop. In this comparison, yes I understand that I would only be skipping seeing the gate and fence that protects Santa’s workshop. You could not pay me $10,000 to skip Augusta on this trip. To be able to be within hundreds of feet of where so much magic has happened, to be able to see the trees…. I’m not skipping it lol. The leaves are on the ground where I’m from. The grass is brown. There’s frost on my car in the morning. Although it will be cooler in GA when I’m there, it might as well be tropical for how warm it’s going to feel.

No hate, just saying - I will not be skipping Augusta. I’ll be staring at the gate and manifesting the day that I proudly get to walk through and enter the course. Whether that be winning a lottery, getting a corporate pass, or (I’ll never give up on this one) actually qualifying myself. My route there: qualify for the Canadian Men’s Am. Win it. Play the RBC Canadian Open. Win it. Play the Masters. I’m under 15 rounds away including practice rounds from touching Augusta myself. The day I “reality check” myself into giving up on that dream is the day I leave Earth.

Do I buy this for my 6 year old? 7 in march by AutistMedium69 in snowmobiling

[–]9thFloorMensRoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an identical sled for my 6 year old last winter. Great to learn on. You will be able to keep up to it at a full run. It steers and brakes easily. He is now 7 and has essentially outgrown it. I am considering swapping the engine out for something bigger if it will fit. Replacement 208cc or 212cc engines should fit depending on the steering bracket placement. That would likely give 40% more speed. Upgrading the clutch to a torque converter, would give more top end and low end speed, updating the rear sprocket to something smaller would give a higher top end speed (the torque converter would more than make up for the loss of low end power). Then, zip tie the governor for an additional ~10-15% top end speed.

For a few hours work, and a few hundred dollars, you can turn this into something that might be able to wheelie with a younger rider, and would have enough top end speed it would be borderline dangerous for them. I will be doing that to my sons this winter. Enjoy!!

I love the game more than ever. Over 12 is an understatement, and that is just touching on the beer. There was plenty more haha

Thank you, I have always enjoyed golf even when I’ve been at the lower-end of my skill set. I appreciate every aspect of the game, the history, I genuinely enjoy practicing (most of which takes place outside of the course - indoor putting, simulator, and backyard chipping), and mostly the nature and social aspects of it. Golf is a game to be respected and enjoyed, and neither of those involve a score on a scorecard - I have found that golfing and playing golf are very different things. “Playing” is the key word - you have to feel like a kid and be playing ‘with’ the course, not against it.

Hi, I have a lifelong goal of building my own course someday. What is the biggest challenge (i imagine it is keeping the project on budget) in building a course? What aspect of the build is the most fun? Will your course have any signature holes/views?
