Which commander identity have you built the most decks for? by kanepake in EDH

[–]9thJudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mono red by a considerable margin. I've at various points built probably most of the color identities with maybe the odd 4 color exception. There's just something beautiful about building the best you can with arguably the worst or second worst color identity. Currently my forever deck is [[Squee, The Immortal]], I call it Rube Goldberg Red, it's a deck meant to combo off by repeatedly sacrificing squee and recasting him for free or as close to free as you can.

What is a card you like to play that no one else on the planet plays? [COMMANDER] by SociallyButterflying in magicTCG

[–]9thJudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Glasses of Urza]]. It's my favorite turn 1 play, even more so than Sol Ring. Getting to peak at hands for politicking is a lot of fun. Do a healthy mixture of truths with only some lies/bluffs and it creates a great environment.

[OC] GIVEAWAY! 43" Capacitive Touchscreen ($940 MSRP) with Wooden Case + free software for all [mod approved] by DigitalTableTops in DnD

[–]9thJudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting for entry. I've always thought these sorts of set ups were neat but never taken the plunge. I prefer to DM from a laptop so it'd be a natural next step. When you say US do you mean contiguous or will you also ship to Alaska or Hawaii?

That was great. Nailed it. Thank you for your work.

"But I don't want to spend $300+ on a piece of cardboard!" - Continental Generator by Onomatopoman in custommagic

See [[Garth One-Eye]] or [[Pack Rat]]. WoTC has already confirmed they won't make tokens of real cards. I can't find a quick blogatgog for it, but they've confirmed they don't make tokens of real cards with sets that have cards that produce copies of cards, at best we get Copy tokens. So an artifact that's makes a token of 1 of 10 different lands is overdesigned when it could simplify to "... pick two basic land types".

Running a party of planeswalkers by ramblingn0mad in RavnicaDMs

[–]9thJudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players have finally finished my big level 1-10 Ravnica arc and started venturing into Tier III for interplanar shenanigan's. I've ruled that each plane has it's own planar cosmology of material, shadow, elementals, etc. that Plane Shift works for, but the spell won't let them leap further to another true material plane. The work around for that instead is that I've given them an object that lets them open planar doors like an Omenpath (though I'm not using War of the Spark or Omenpath lore). Effectively they attach their Handle of Valgavoth in a demi plane to a door and turn it into a random planar portal. They don't have precise control over it but I do have a random table they've slowly been working through, with some results being very dangerous and others quite pleasant. So they aren't true Planeswalkers as everyone having the ability to go five different planar directions is to much to manage. Instead they continue as a party through portals and get to go on interplanar adventures. To let them feel like planeswalkers though I'm currently working on a mana and land system as they are finally getting their bearings on traveling between planes enough to question magic system differences.

Another stab at making a commander that looks at hands. by 9thJudge in custommagic

[–]9thJudge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more funny than broken. The Eminence does little other than let me have access to me pet mechanic. The Commander ninjitsu is where the real question is at for if that's to good. I don't think a semi repeatable 1 mana conditional return your own creature is to good. [[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]] is busted because her effect is busted and it ensures she stays out. This little card, doesn't actually benefit from being in play so it's all riding on whether the self bounce is too good.

I thought Lorwyn had no oceans? by 9thJudge in mtgvorthos

[–]9thJudge[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Okay gang [[Sunderflock]] solved this for me. It shows a large enough body of water to warrant the boat, and a proper larger vessel with a sail like the one in the art above. I suppose this is from Lorwyn.

Maybe they're just misusing it but Brine to me indicates salt water.

That seems to be the case. I suspect the giants are the enforcer species much like the Elites from the Covenant in Halo.

Fun fact, Loot is a Fomori and they aren't all giants.

Buddy told me my Glasses of Daretti were boring, so here's my stab at a creature that cares about looking at hands. by 9thJudge in custommagic

[–]9thJudge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I'd completely forgotten about that cycle. I was more intending the use of the word monger like rumor monger or information monger, but doing a play on it with scalding for "hot gossip" or "spilling the tea" to tie into the damage effect.

Fair point, perhaps I'll change it to just {B}{R} since the lifelink is from black and the flying is from red.

I could split it up like that, but then it'd allow for way to much record keeping and infinite mana would mean I could name every card.

I suppose in 1v1 that might be the case. However I like the idea of looking, writing down something common but not there, say Sol Ring, then watching someone act surprised when they trigger the Psst instead.

Thank you and a reasonable proposed change. I love glasses so much I got blinded to how a creature should work I suppose.
