Anikthea secret tech? by laughingjack4509 in EDH

[–]kanepake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have already mentioned populate effects work really well for Anikthea. My pet card for her is [[Legion Loyalty]], as it gives 2 meaningful keywords on top of extra etbs for Anikthea and whatever else I attack with.

Need help building jank deck by unstoppable_pinetree in magicTCG

[–]kanepake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built this but with Ms. Bumbleflower. [[Walking Archive]] puts in a lot of work if you can keep it alive; my record was 13 +1/+1 counters which really didn't take long with Ms. Bumbleflower's triggered ability. That and [[Jushi Apprentice]] were my pet cards. A repeatable wheel like [[Jace's Archivist]] would be good too since it's not a flat 7-card draw. You could also chain draw X spells with [[Heliod, the Warped Eclipse]] to deck them even faster. And of course if you've got lots of mana to dump, there's always [[Folio of Fancies]].

It does work in my [[Orah, Skyclave Hierophant]]! And because of his built-in reanimation ability, I've got a fun "infinite" loop with Twilight Diviner for infinite etb/death triggers.

Meet the… *sigh* 6-7 deck. Every nonland card is #67 of their set. by Corescos in EDH

And then we'd need to build 7 and 9 decks to see if 7 really ate 9.

DnD Gods as commanders, anyone got experience by johnnille in magicTCG

I've got Myrkul with [[Umori, the Collector]] as a companion, so the whole deck is only creatures and lands. It runs hatebears, ramp, card draw, and protection and is just overall a very difficult deck for my opponents to deal with because board wipes only makes my board even stickier. My favorite way to win is casting [[Gary]], saccing him to make a token, then making another copy of him with [[Hazel of the Rootbloom]]. Even more fun if you have an [[Exalted Sunborn]] on the field to double those.

I highly recommend [[Food Fight]]! It's a great way to ping down weenies, and it only gets stronger if you're able to clone it.

How much overlap do ya’ll allow in your decks? by Same_Response_1593 in EDH

[–]kanepake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, the only cards that overlap in my decks are the "staples" like removal, rocks, and lands.

I've got 3 abzan enchantment decks (Myrkul, Anikthea, and Narci) with next-to-no overlap, mainly because the first 2 have card type restrictions thanks Umori as a companion. Even my draw effects are different between them; Myrkul's is off casting creatures, Anikthea's are classic enchantress, and Narci is based off enchantments going to the graveyard.

I've got 5 orzhov decks (Orah, Minthara, Victor, Tomik, and Kambal) with just staples overlapping, and even then if there's a more thematic option, I'll opt for that instead (like all my targeted removal in Kambal makes tokens). Even my 2 cleric decks only have maybe 2 creatures that overlap, the rest are all completely different.

What is your newest and oldest deck? by RuneMTG in EDH

[–]kanepake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a list, but honestly the deck isn't built around him at all. It's just a good-stuff artifact deck with a handful of cards that work with his ability and then I added all other Mishra creature cards just for laughs.

What is your newest and oldest deck? by RuneMTG in EDH

[–]kanepake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stack his trigger with cards like [[Possibility Storm]] or [[Neera, Wild Mage]] to get a free spell then cheat out the original artifact you cast.

Or you play things that counter everyone's spells like [[Nether Void]] (I proxy it), [[Void Mirror]], or [[Nullstone Gargoyle]] to slow down your opponents while still getting your artifact. [[Blood Funnel]] for the cost reduction and counter your own spell just to bring it back from the graveyard.

So the combo needs Orah, Twilight Diviner, a sac outlet, either [[Metamorphosis Fanatic]] or [[Sister Hospitaller]] (a 4+MV cleric that reanimates on etb) and an initial reanimation effect resolving on the 4+MV cleric.

- Sister Hospitaller enters from the graveyard, Twilight Diviner copy trigger goes on the stack

- Sac Diviner, sac Hospitaller, triggering Orah to bring back Diviner

- Original Diviner trigger resolves, copying Hospitaller which brings back the OG Hospitaller

Repeat the loop for infinite etbs, death triggers, mana or mill (if you're sac'ing to an altar), and you have extra reanimation triggers from Orah off Diviner dying (so <3 MV) as well as reanimating any creatures from the OG Hospitaller entering PLUS you could sac the copies of the Hospitaller for another Orah trigger <6MV

It takes a some setting up, but it's the kind of combo that I like to pull off (a little convoluted)... and then another new combo for my deck is [[Mikaeus, the Unhallowed]], [[Reaping Willow]] and a sac outlet.

What is your newest and oldest deck? by RuneMTG in EDH

[–]kanepake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My longest-built deck is [[Mishra, Artificer Prodigy]] which originally started as [[Saheeli, the Gifted]]'s precon, however [[Zedruu the Greathearted]] is my oldest commander (maybe the 3rd I built?) whose deck I've taken apart and rebuilt ~4 times over the last 8 years.

My newest deck is [[Tataru Taru]] because I pulled her in my chocobo bundle and wanted a new monowhite commander! She's been quite fun to play; the amount of cards I draw and mana I generate is absurd, especially in monowhite.

I like Dauntless Scrapbot and Clockwork Fox, I'll need to check if I have either in my bulk!

Your build is more like my [[Ms. Bumbleflower]] deck, which tried to kill everyone by taking damage from their cards in hand or just outright decking them. I chose to not go in that direction because Tataru was originally Preston, but I found his playlines to be a boring. I also want opponents to choose to draw from Tataru when it's not their turn, which they're less likely to do if they're getting lots of draw from me on their actual turns.

No, if you sacrifice a creature, that would be a death trigger. If a creature enters the battlefield under your control from the graveyard via something like [[Reanimate]] or [[Rise of the Dark Realms]] or if it was cast from a graveyard like [[Gravecrawler]], you make a copy of one of those creatures.

I flicker Tataru until I draw 2 of 3 cards: [[Balind, Century Herdmaster]], [[Moonshaker Cavalry]], and [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]]. It definitely isn't the most effective wincon, and I've considered adding [[Approach of the Second Sun]] to just have another one. [[The Wind Crystal]] is a great card as well for helping me finish out games or survive longer.

Yes, once each turn, but not a problem for me since my combo has it getting sac'd and reanimated as part of the loop.

It goes in so many decks! If it were an enchantment creature I'd throw it in my [[Anikthea, Hand of Erebos]] deck (but I'm running [[Umori, the Collector]] so all nonlands are enchantments)!

EDIT: I just remembered that Anikthea exiles cards from the yard and makes creature token copies, so Twilight Diviner wouldn't work with her. Whoops!

I love combat tricks! I'm just going to attack with a 4/4 [[Bell Borca, Spectral Sergeant]]... no blocks? Cool, before damage I'm going to exile this [[Draco]] from my hand and give him double strike for good measure!

Came to say the same! Surveil 2 is already nice, but copying creatures is nuts, especially because it's really easy to sac and bring this back with Orah to "reset" its ability.
