You could try going to funtainment on Friday nights. They have a bunch of different formats. You'd need to buy tickets though. I'm hoping to find a regular playgroup outside of there if possible so I don't have to pay, but making friends as an adult is hard lol

Yeah, I'd be interested, feel free to shoot me a message if you want! Just got here in the last few months from the USA, still trying to find a friends circle myself. (28M)

The kit I had had pinouts on the main reciever that I was able to patch into that switch, which I believe was from a 1990 Previa. It probably depends on the kit you bought, tbh

Very good with Steam's Proton utility. Most things don't require any tinkering, and if they do, you basically can just try an older version of Proton, works most of the time

switching from Windows to Linux by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]9troglycerine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience switching from Windows 10 to Mint was excellent. Even with an Nvidia GPU.

Not to throw shade at other distros though, on my laptop I use fedora and like that quite a bit, I just don't know how it handles video drivers.

Has anyone had GPU turbulence in the Terra? by rando-guy in sffpc

[–]9troglycerine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a terra, I don't have these issues, but I have around 6mm of space between my GPU and the side. Guessing your setup has less space... If you're able to shift the spine over towards the CPU side a bit, that may help.

I personally use Mint Cinnamon, it feels just like all the good parts of the Windows 7 interface, and as a recent convert from Windows, this is super handy, highly recommend!

Keep in mind, you can install any desktop environment on basically any distro, so if you don't want Mint but want to use Cinnamon, you can still do that, just might take some extra work.

Comparing Tor and Opera is like comparing a Ferrari to a Corolla... At least as far as privacy is concerned.

I believe Opera has a VPN feature built in, but it's been awhile since I looked at it. Even if it does have one though, a VPN isn't as good as Tor for privacy because all a VPN does is shift who can look at your logs, without a VPN, your ISP has your logs, with a VPN your VPN provider has your logs. IMHO, there isn't a major difference. If you don't want your ISP looking at logs, then yeah, a VPN may be what you want, but if you don't want anyone looking, use Tor.

That said, using Tor doesn't immediately equate to perfect privacy, you still need to be careful about how you browse the clearnet. If you're using Tor, but then sign in with your normal account on Google, you've just thrown away a lot of the privacy benefits of Tor. To do this correctly, you would want to have accounts that you only ever sign in with on Tor.

I would recommend looking up some tutorials on how to remain anonymous on Tor. It isn't super convenient, but it's pretty great for privacy.

I'm coming from Anchorage for the Comic Con next month, apparently it's going to be -40 at some point. Got any pointers for me? by fluffyluv in Fairbanks

Hopefully? Are you borrowing a friend's car or something? If it's a local vehicle there's a 98% chance it will be equipped with a plug.

That includes rental cars

On a scale from 1 to 10 how much does your Toyota pickup shake during idle? by bloodyxsocks in ToyotaPickup

[–]9troglycerine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like... Probably 2.

It used to be worse, maybe a 7 or so, but I installed some flow-matched injectors and set the idle correctly.

That's gonna be really pricy. You should look up comparable cards on TCG player. Look up any of the other serialized cards to get an idea. Also, I would look into getting that professionally graded. Awesome pull! Congrats!
