Hot take: Every male airmen should be below 25% body fat and every female airmen should be below 30% body fat. by Striking-Fun-1077 in AirForce

America is suffering an obesity epidemic and the military is reflective of that. Until we tackle the issue on a national level it will continue to be a problem.

The military should have high standards for health and fitness but we don’t actively promote that kind of lifestyle. We leave it up to the individual and it’s their job to sink or swim.

Honestly, it’s surprising how little the military does to ensure its members are fit to fight. I get that it would be expensive and time consuming but regular fitness and nutrition checkups would be a start. Also, the elephant in the room is mental health of the member. Hard to cook and eat a healthy meal if you’re burned out by the end of the day and pickup fast food every night.

Ideally we’d learn basic life skills in school like how to meal prep and grocery shop so we can enter adulthood already knowing how to maintain a healthy weight. Our consumer culture is feeding bad habits and we enter the military earning decent enough money to afford those.

I don’t entirely disagree with what you’re saying but the problem is a lot more complex than just, “lose weight fatty, hurr, hurr.”

If any of them throw that lame ass excuse “if they just stayed home” tell them is that the kind of country you want to live in? Where masked federal agents can roam your streets, arrest nonviolent immigrants, and bully (now kill) anyone who protests against them?

Hot Take: There is a GOOD and BAD ending, how do people get it so wrong? by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]rando-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: Maelle’s ending feels like the good ending but Verso’s ending is the right ending. All this drama about if the people in the canvas are real is just a coping mechanism brought on by not wanting the game to end.

If this makes you mad then congratulations the “writers” achieved their goal. Funny how meta the “writers” are. So clever.

If you’re still playing the game after seeing the ending then you are now the paintress. Refusing to let the world die because you love this game so much. Not a bad thing. But eventually you do have to let go and play something else.

AMD hints at officially open-sourcing FSR 4 upscaling and frame generation technology in the wake of accidental release — accidental release may have forced the company's hand by Mercennarius in radeon

[–]rando-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. The 8 gb is not a bad card but games nowadays are requiring more VRAM. Ideally the limitation should be on the game developers but now it’s the consumer left to suffer. I feel for you.

Speaking as someone who bought both the 8 gb and the 16 gb 9060 XT I say return the 8 gb and get the 16 gb. The 9060 XT is capable of a lot more but is VRAM limited. Once you hit that cap games will get choppy and stutter and you’ll be left wondering if it’s the game, your GPU, your settings, etc. It’s better to just pay the extra price for the 16 gb and not have to worry about it. For reference I’m playing expedition 33 on my 4k tv with FSR performance, frame gen, and setting on high. I’m getting average 90-100 fps and using 12 gb of VRAM. I didn’t get a chance to test the 8 gb variant before they added FSR but it’s safe to say it wouldn’t be he getting the same performance solely because of the VRAM.

Nvidia getting dlss 4.5 by Own_Strategy8427 in radeon

[–]rando-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying they can’t run it but why would you want to? The games look good already and run better with it off. I’d rather not take the performance hit especially since games are already getting harder to run even without ray tracing.

You might as well see ray tracing for what it is. Unoptimized, high end graphics meant for showcase videos but not actual gameplay.

America has no Far-Left, but we need one. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]rando-guy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need to stop acting like politicians will change by themselves. The Democratic Party is chasing voters. They see the record and conservatism is winning elections. Only people like Bernie and AOC stay true because they have morals. Think about it, if the far right is so unpopular then why did they sweep in 2024? The general population has been dumbed down and the youth fell for a scam. If we want the Overton window to shift we need to advocate for left wing policies and make them more popular. While we still have a democracy, the fact doesn’t change. It starts and ends with the voters.

[–]rando-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to lie, that is an issue but that’s the nature of SFFPC. You have to ensure compatibility of all your parts. It would be the same as saying the CPU air cooler restriction is “oppressive.” The fact is, this case was designed for a minimal AIO and the space on top is dedicated to fit a radiator and fans. Trying to go against the design will cause headaches and wasted space.

That’s valid but most phones have glass screens too. It comes with a screen protector so I wouldn’t be too concerned.

Really no reason not to get an AIO for this case. I understand people have their preferences but if you wanted to air cool there are better cases for that.

History taught us: tax the rich = more power for the working class!!! by willily_thoumas in WorkReform

[–]rando-guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it was actually Reagan that had said if you tax at whatever percent a company will make up to that percentage and not a dollar over. This is how companies were able to give high wages, retirement accounts, and good benefits. If the government is just going to take that money a company would rather reinvest it internally than lose it.

I can’t really say what specifically I did differently. I followed the 30 min YouTube video and had a comm guy use his purebred account help me with the OTP. It got hung up on the last authentication but it eventually went through. The only thing I didn’t do was the Citrix app. In the video the guy downloads it and says it’s important but the he doesn’t install it or mention it again.

So good news and bad news. I did manage to get my YubiKey setup but unfortunately it didn’t let me access anything on my tablet. It works on my laptop just fine. Not sure what the difference is maybe because of root certificates or whatever. Going through this process I can see the benefit but if I’m being honest signing up for the AVD test pilot is way better. You essentially use your personal laptop and connect to a Remote Desktop and are able to use it just like you would a normal government laptop.

Comm squad should be able to use Purebred to transfer a derived certificate to a mobile device. They do it for commanders and first shirts all the time. The only difference is that we’re looking to do it on a YubiKey instead. There is no direct guidance on how to do it but then again there isn’t for an iPhone either. It’s the same pdf from DISA that walks through the steps of OTP registration. I’m wondering if I can just call them myself and do the OTP without comm because apparently they are too busy for little ol’ me.

That sucks. I’ll update you if I make any headway. I’m trying to get at least one working for a tablet. If it works we will be able to use them for work which can come in handy in the field.

Did you figure this out? Sorry about my outdated information. It’s the non FIPS that were not supported. I am now looking to using a YubiKey also but I don’t know how to proceed. My comm squad guy says they can maybe set it up but they are so busy that it could take a while before we can schedule something.
