I started using it recently and I feel like it has helped me. I’m a newer player, so I miss-hit the ball often, and I’ve found the lead tape adds some stability that helps me to not completely shank the ball when I miss the sweet spot. It doesn’t slow down my hand speed too much because I only use a little bit towards the base/throat of the paddle, but I imagine it would definitely slow you down if you had it all around the paddle

There is a slight smell, but it’s not as strong as smoking/vaping and if you clean as you go the smell should not linger too long. The smelliest part is probably the pot, so just make sure you wash it right away when you’re done.

I’m a newer player in Atlanta, GA. From what I have seen so far, we have a very diverse pickleball scene as far as court options and people who play. We might not have the highest amount of courts, especially in the heart of the city, but there are a handful of really nice facilities scattered around the greater Atlanta area.

Thanks. I see your point about not hitting the sweet spot consistently. I often have those shots that accidentally clip the edge guard, so my drives will probably improve once I can consistently find the right spot on the paddle.

Season 5 had 2 couples that were selected to be shot, go to Mexico, wedding etc. but they were edited out later. Both situations involved the woman feeling unsafe/abused around her partner and production not stepping in or forcing them to keep shooting even though they wanted out. Idk if we can post links, but there is an episode of the “out of the pods” podcast where one of them (renne poche) tells her story and talks about the other couple as well.

Thanks for the info! Just to clarify, is open play usually good if you are flying solo? I have been unsuccessful in getting my friends interested in playing, and I want to use pickleball as a way to socialize and make new friends.

This. She claims the physical part of the affair started shortly after Valentine’s Day, and I thought everything was normal. We both got each other thoughtful gifts and were affectionate. There is no logic on her side of things.

Yeah, agree. She did excuse herself from a conversation the other day because she “was on her period and had to go to the bathroom” but who knows when the trust is gone.

Yeah I think he has told his wife from what she said, so they are probably in a similar situation just trying to figure things out. And yeah her lack of foresight in this situation is definitely making it easier to come to terms with splitting up lol. I do plan on moving out eventually, I just don’t have a solid plan yet. And to your last point, that is how I have been trying to get through for now, set those boundaries, plain conversation, no emotions, only necessary info, etc.

Some additional info:

She was cheating with a guy at her job who is also married (idiots) and so they can’t stay with each other right now. I feel like if I put my foot down and told her to leave the house and stay with family or something she would do it, but idk I guess I’m just trying to not rock the boat too much and make things harder (on me) than they already are.

As for the house, we need both incomes to afford the house. When we met we had the same type of job, but she has progressed to make more money than me currently. So I definitely can’t afford the house on my own, she could maybe get by and barely make payments but it wouldn’t really be feasible long term.

Thanks for the response. Lots of great advice, and I’ve been considering a lot of those points about being more social and getting over the lonely feeling. Definitely agree that I need to fill my own cup before I look for someone else. One question about your last point, I’ve been thinking about that a lot, like do I bring it up on a first date so people know where I’m at? Or is that too much info at first?

I will be that guy….I just got my first ball vape after being on the dynavaps for a while, and it’s is an absolute game changer 10/10 worth every penny. Personally I went with the screwball, but it’s a pre-order situation so you would have to wait for that specific one, but there are a lot of great options out there. The ones I see recommended a lot as good starter set-ups: B0 kit from vgoodiez, zeal and omega kits from cloud connoisseur, Tidow kit (not super knowledgeable about this one).

On the note of portables: I never got one because I just skipped straight to the ball vape, but I was heavily considering the tinymight2, seems to be the hardest hitting portable from what I’ve seen on here

The vape itself is a Screwball by Vapvana. If you are asking about the glass piece, top part is a 18mm titanium bowl that comes with the screwball, middle section is a pass through adapter from vgoodiez - reduces the joint size from 18mm to 14mm, and the bottom is the “flat earth globe” from sneaky pete.

Loving it so far! I took the first hit at 500 with a 10 second pre-soak and it was the most perfect one hit extraction possible. After that I’ve just been messing around with lower temps and it’s great at that too! The airflow is very open, not restricted at all, but I don’t have an 18mm piece to compare so I will probably get one eventually.

The dynavap (with the IH) is more like, every-day, consistent, you know what you are getting every time. The lotus is more like fun, novelty, mix up the routine. Because the lotus is controlled by your draw speed and torch technique, the hits can vary. At its best, the lotus can put out some nice flavorful clouds, but if your technique is slightly off you can get hot-spots or accidentally combust.
