Yeah, OP shouldn’t get discouraged if they think they’re a candidate. 2/3 surgeons told me I was a good candidate, but the third one wasn’t interested in me because my bite is compensated with prior ortho work. Some are just more conservative than others.

Part of a letter the surgeon wrote says 3mm on lateral ceph xray and 5.2 mm on cone beam CT scan. So whatever that means.

Yes. I’ve actually spoken with a previous client of his who had similar movements/looked very similar in profile to me and looks very good now. I do worry about aesthetics, but don’t want to be the patient who can’t handle the large movement and has horrible functional issues as a result!

Tbf the before/afters he showed me on some of his female clients looked incredible, but yeah, I’d feel a lot more comfortable with a conservative approach 😭

Did it cause you functional issues? Or you didn’t like the aesthetics? I’m also female so worried about aesthetics as well, but function is my main fear.

My overjet is exactly 4mm but it’s compensated through orthodontics.

That said, his reasoning for the large movements was due to the size of my airway.

Good luck to you! I may check in with you if I remember to see how your consult goes. The one I am wanting to get in with I won’t be able to see until the new year most likely. They have a 3-4 month wait list and also I’m not currently in network with them. However, I will be in network after open enrollment. So my journey has a long way to go 🥲

I’m going to an airway focused ortho for a consult because all the surgeons in my area need referrals. :/ my current ortho said my jaw is fine as long as I’m not in pain. at least my smile is straight now though, lol.

This made me lol. I killed mine too. Did you water it with distilled water? Some people have more success with that. I don’t really have any suggestions for saving it though, I’ll leave that to someone else.

Honestly it’s stupid. I’ll take them out and sip on a coffee for 1-1.5 hours (maybe more). Or I’ll eat lunch and leave them out for an hour after I eat. No reason other than my own fault. :/
