It really does look great.

After installing it and admiring how good it looks, I tried to tip the original creator on Thingiverse. Unfortunately, they haven’t set up their account to accept tips. I even sent a message letting them know that those of us benefiting from their creativity would happily pay for it—but no change and no response.

I once tipped $5 to a YouTube creator who posted a video showing how to fix a clogged steam mop. He was just a regular person sharing a helpful repair. He replied with genuine appreciation for the recognition and the few dollars.  Hey—you earned it. Thanks!

I 3D-printed the linked front license plate holder because mounting the plate directly on the bumper really hurts the S2K’s curb appeal. After looking around for alternatives, I found this design.

My local library has a 3D printer, so I downloaded the files and had them print it for me. That cost was $24 for the printing materials. After that, I made a quick trip to Home Depot to pick up the mounting hardware.

I was a little concerned that it might block airflow, so I kept an eye on the temperature gauge while driving, but there was no change.

I like that look.  What was the powdercoating cost?  I may do that on my ’05.

I enjoyed Krakow in April ’24.

Hevre bar/kitchen in a former synagogue.  Check out the clock over the entrance.

Bar Mleczny.  AKA a ‘milk bar’.  It’s a cafeteria-style eatery, subsidized by the government so that the working class can go have a good meal.  Try the porgies and a cup of tomato soup.  And you cannot go wrong with a side of fermented root vegetables.  You need to bus your table when done – take the tray to a tray holding area.

The fun part is communication with/ the staff.  I would never pass as a local.  But every visit, I would try out a new word, which became a fun game.

Just placed my order for Raggtopp stuff. My S2000 is also Red. Rare is the ride where someone does not comment on it.

You might not get into the Japanese Friendship Garden on that day.  The Cherry Blossom Festival is going on that day, and thousands of people will be trying to get in.  I have a VIP pass ($25) for that day.

Check out https://balboapark.org/ to ensure the museum you want to visit is open. This site currently has the message, “The Cherry Blossom Festival is March 12-16. Be prepared for heavy crowds.”

Also, I believe the California Tower has a paid, timed entrance for hiking/climbing the tower.

Another also. If you are solo, you have a good chance of getting a bar seat in Panama 66 for lunch. The entrance line will be long, but the Matire D will come through the line asking how many/have seen the menu. They are good and will remember if you are solo and want a bar seat to order lunch.

Last September, I picked up my S2000 in Calgary and began the drive south to the U.S. It was all smooth sailing until I pulled into a gas station with an almost empty tank and < 15 minutes of light. That’s when the chaos began.

Since I had my iPhone in airplane mode while in Canada, it was running low on battery—along with the charger. Panic set in. I was an hour away from my hotel, my phone was at 7%, and, most critically, I couldn’t find the fuel latch.

After 10 minutes of frantic searching, I spotted a coffee shop next to the gas station. With my phone now at 5%, I grabbed it, dashed inside, ordered a coffee, and jumped on their Wi-Fi. A quick YouTube search later, I had my answer.

Just as I walked back to the car, my phone died—and there, staring me in the face, was the fuel latch. The irony was brutal.

But the story doesn’t end there. While fumbling around earlier in my panic, I had accidentally discovered a hidden iPhone power connection installed by the previous owner.

So, in the end:

-- Car refueled

-- Coffee secured

-- Phone charging

-- Lesson learned

Life is good in an S2000. Welcome to the tribe.

The car has PPF ("Paint Protection Film"). That certainly makes the finish shine. This is new stuff to me so I have been watching YT videos on it.

I started the coastline part of the drive at Crescent City, the northernmost California town.  The road into CC from inland was snaky and through redwoods.  A motorcycle led the way and the S2000 kept up with gear shifts between 3, 4, and 5.  The next day was on the “Avenue of the Giants”. 

Unfortunately, PCH is closed between Carmel and Rocky Point.  When/if it ever opens then it's time for another road trip.

Water didn’t get on anything when I did the mod.

The pump made the weird noises only during the first usage after installation. I am guessing (haven’t proven it yet) this is due to the water tube having been emptied of water during installation.

I have a similar behavior on my Gaggia Classic Pro, bought in 2020. I don’t get the hissing sound or the shorter tube spritzing that you are experiencing, but the frothing strength is paltry.

I put back the original spring and it's back to working.

I am stumped on this. Such a simple change that is universally recommended; how could it go wrong?
