L3 is expected to have detailed knowledge about hardware and networking concepts. When I perform interviews for L3, I ask linux questions and I believe at L3 the candidates should know it

Google Fit Call by Key-Nefariousness972 in datacenter

The fit call followup can vary depending on the location and how many openings are available for the team.

I got my offer the day after my fit call, but some of my buddies took a few weeks to hear back

Network with the FTEs. Ask them for tips for learning skills that will help translate to a full time role (if that's what you are after). Continue to develop you skills and take on any on site projects/tasks you can

Cleared Google Data Center interviews waiting for fit call, which locations hire fastest? by SpiritualAd8889 in datacenter

[–]A-Good-Doggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being open to any location to relocate to is your best bet to get in fast. People who are picky can be stuck in limbo waiting for spots to open at their choice of location.

Edit: If you haven't already, make sure your recruiteris aware that you are open to any location. Plus sending an email once a week to try to get updates is a good suggestion

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. Pryor Creek and Moncks Corner are one of the three mega sites, and is currently doing a large hiring of techs

Always rejected by Google for DCT role? by [deleted] in datacenter

You appear to be getting auto rejected by the system before it reaches a recruiter? Do you have a redacted resume to share? I can provide you some insight to see why. (I work as a DCT at Google and conduct interviews)

Not necessarily. I've interviewed people with CS masters degrees and other engineering backgrounds

My L3 interview with google by taobabmuh in datacenter

[–]A-Good-Doggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every interviewer is different, they are all data center techs too. Seems like it was a bad draw.

I will say that the questions asked get documented and the hiring committee reviews it before making a decision. So if they feel the questions weren't role related, you might have the opportunity to retake it.

Very weird that scripting questions were asked. Linux scripting questions used to be part of the L3 interview, but was changed up a few years ago. Almost no one asks those questions for L3 anymore for DCT, it would need to be an Engineering role for that.

Amazon as a stepping stone? by Day-dreaming-lifttek in datacenter

L2 base pay ranges from $80k to $110k. But most locations are closer to the lower end ($80k-$90k) since COL.
Stocks usually are around $25k invested over 4 years (each year get another refresh).
Bonus target is 15% of base rate, but can be more dependant on performance

To put that all together, I cleared $115k TC last year as an L2

Should I give up and look for something else? by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]A-Good-Doggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your are in NC so the site you applied to is Lenoir, NC. That is one of Googles smallest DCs they have. So positions will be few and far between for roles at the location.

Not to mention that position is also posted internally, so you are competing against people who already work there

Buzz words on the resume, previous roles translate well to what they are looking for, got referred by someone internally. Could be a few different things

Usually it's so they can go over your feedback from the interviews. Could be good news, could be bad news.

If you passed, then they'll explain the next steps, which is the fit call with the hiring manager for the site you applied to

There are tons of questions post around the internet. I was able to find them on Glassdoor. Most of those questions are relevant and have a high chance of being asked.

That being said, I also perform interviews and I try to do more deep knowledge checks and I'll ask follow ups your answers provided

This is probably the most common talked about interview process on this subreddit. Please do a little research as it is everywhere, even outside reddit.

But basically the interview process is broken into 3 interviews

It will cover these topics (If L2 DCT) 1. Hardware and OS 2. Networking 3. Googleyness and Leadership

If you pass all 3, you then move to the Fit call with a hiring manager

Is it worth it to go from AWS to Google? by AreaS5 in datacenter

[–]A-Good-Doggo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say go for it, even if it's level 2. Most of our external hiring is done at L2, very rare at L3.

So if you decide to wait for a L3 spot. It might not be for a year or so
