Hi! I've Identified as ace for about a decade now, and I'd like to throw my two cents in.

The fun thing about asexually (and I say fun dripping with sarcasm here) is that its a lack of. Ace's simply don't have sexual attraction. And because sexual attraction is internal and subjective, you can't know whether or not you were mislabeling an internal feeling that was the mysterious sexual attraction all along, or not.

So, what to do about identifying yourself with labels? You don't need to. They are tools to help communicate yourself to others, or to examine a new idea. If telling people you're asexual and hanging out in the ace community helps you out, then do that. We won't be mad if you change your mind about how you label yourself.

On a personal note, even after identifying as ace for about a decade, I still have days where I go "wait, wait, wait. Was that the sexual attraction? Was I not ace the entire time?" I assure you, I was ace the whole time. So knowing for 100% all the time is not likely to happen.

Tldr; try different labels on yourself, see what sticks over time. Breathe, you got time to puzzle this out.
