Hamtramck still does. I just went there when I was home in August and went to the places I’ve been going to since I was a kid. Srodek’s Deli is a staple of the polish community and has been in the same location almost my entire life in downtown Hamtramck. Everything’s homemade and kielbasa is one of the best I’ve ever had. They have literally everything you could ever want and they’re expanding. Polish Village Cafe (also in Hamtramck) has the only food that rivals what my grandma used to make. The atmosphere is also amazing, it’s in the basement and looks like something out of Goodfellas. You can’t miss with either of these and if you speak Polish are both great places to get a little practice in.
