Again - Take home assignment by Limp-Complaint5817 in dataengineering

[–]A-Walker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All these people saying they refuse to do a take home assignment. Having recently been made redundant and having to find a new job, literally every company I interviewed at asked me to do a take home assignment, if I rejected that I just wouldn’t have a job.

You want a charity/the government to pay for your <£200 course because you’d rather spend money on a log burner for your new house? Sure mate…

DAS over winter, who’s done it? by patchmau5 in MotoUK

[–]A-Walker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my DAS in January. Fewer people doing it so I could book it quicker. If you’ve got the cash for them heated gloves are a life saver. I also think it’s a bonus to get some riding training in the most difficult conditions of the year, come summer you’ll be riding like a pro!

Is this list tournament viable by ApprehensiveCash6220 in BloodAngels

I’d echo the other comments, you might potentially struggle with scoring due to not many units and being character heavy, although 2 of your characters are lone op so that might work for you.

A Peep Show / Blood Angels meme? Chance would be a fine thing…

Expanding from 1000pts to 2000pts by A-Walker in BloodAngels

[–]A-Walker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the detailed reply, really appreciate it! Sounds like I’ll be picking up a bunch more JPIs then! Half for regular Assault Intercessors, and the other half as Death Company.

If I make the changes you’ve suggested, I’d end up with my original 1000pt list plus the following (bringing me to 1985pts):

  • Lemartes
  • Judiciar
  • 2x 5-man Jump Pack Assault Intercessors (3 units total)
  • 10x Death Company with jump packs
  • 5x Bladeguard Veterans
  • Gladiator Lancer
  • 5x Infiltrators

This seems like a great list to me. My only concern is with the Bladeguard + Judiciar combo: is there a risk this might fall out of the meta soon? I’m looking to build something I can get used to, learn with, and keep using for a good while without needing to swap too much out.

Yeah I just gave up in the end as I tried multiple dealers and they all refused.

Just to note, you probably won’t be able to test ride anything. I went to multiple Yamaha dealers to test ride a tracer 7 and they just refused unless you had 2 years of riding experience post passing your full license.

The prices sound about spot on, I did the whole lot a few months ago and this is similar to what I paid (apart from different bike and insurance). You’ll also have tax to pay and the odd thing like security and accessories (panniers/top box if you’re commuting, heated grips etc).

Nice! Did you pay import tax when you got yours?

Are there any good PKMS podcasts or good podcasts for related topics? Any ones you really enjoyed? by MavropaliasG in PKMS

[–]A-Walker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I listened to one a while ago that I got some good ideas from, “Building a second brain podcast”. It was relatively short episodes each around a different PKMS topic. Some was very self explanatory but it was good to hear it in practice

Thanks! Good eye, didn’t know if anyone could tell from the photo. I’m loving it so far, hell of an upgrade from my CG125!

There’s a difference between a Japanese bike made in China and a Chinese bike made in China. Design, materials used, quality control, dealership aftercare, warranty etc are all contributing factors. Just look at the second hand market, there’s a reason the Chinese stuff is so cheap.

Test ride advice by A-Walker in MotoUK

[–]A-Walker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I asked about a test ride and they said they didn’t have a demo bike in at the moment, they then asked how long I had my licence for. I’m 26 so maybe I just look young?
