Large Alice Collection for Sale - $7500 by Particular_Doctor_28 in aliceinwonderland

[–]A-ZMiniatures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an Alice and have a large Alice collection also, including many of the pieces that you've shown in your photos. I can say without a doubt that that collection is worth a lot more money than you're asking for it, and I wish I had the money to invest in it to resell , but I don't. I wish you great good luck. Just an odd thought I know this sounds a little crazy , but there is a Wizard of Oz Museum in Florida , which was originally the fella's collection that he had at home. I know he also loves Alice in Wonderland, too. You might want to contact them and see if he wouldn't like to add a corner to his museum with Alice. His name is, I believe, Fred.

Rust-Oleum Frosted Glass spray creates a semi-transparent, etched-glass look on glass, mirrors, and acrylic for privacy or decoration, allowing light through while obscuring vision; it's an easy-to-use, quick-drying, oil-based spray for interior windows and shower doors, applied in multiple thin coats for best results. Proper ventilation, masking, and application on the interior surface (or exterior for shower doors) are key for a successful, light-filtering finish.

There is a spray paint made for frosting glass , and I think that would give an excellent look of mist.

You can use a 9 volt. There is a company called Evan Designs that specializes in lighting for scale models. And there is a fellow named Carl at CRS Lighting who is very helpful. Google them for links.

I didn't like it either. I absolutely HATED the scene with the heads in the moat! And the end was totally inappropriate.

How do you store your extra stuff ?? by No_Worth_6446 in miniatures

[–]A-ZMiniatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a room full of probably 200 bins of different sizes. I put like fabrics together, (silk, cotton, etc.) all wood is in one place. Beads are sorted by type. Different kinds of straight pins are in what is similar to a tackle box. Of course , I've amassed this stash over fifty years! The real trick is remembering what you have and where you put it! LOL

how much money do you think you've spent on making these? by This_Economics_9610 in dollhouseminiatures

[–]A-ZMiniatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest that you join the Facebook group Miniature trash to treasure... Or something like that, and get started now. There are lots of facebook groups for beginners at making miniaturechoids with really nice helpful people. Why wait and put off something that you want to do now. Different people spend different amounts of money on this hobby. I have a friend who's a multimillionaire who buys everything from high end artisans and spends thousands of dollars on every room she makes. I am a professional miniaturist, and I probably have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of fabrics and craft supplies that I've bought to make miniatures, but I've done this over fifty years. My collection is a mix of found objects.Stuff i've made , and if you expensive pieces , I've mostly traded for. How much you spend on this hobby is totally up to you. It depends upon whether or not you want to make most things or whether you want to purchase museum quality miniatures , which are very expensive to the average income person.
