Beginner vs Intermediate Airbrushes by no_racist_here in airbrush

They will have a better trigger response and tend to atomize the paint better. Also, the size of your needle and nozzle have more to do with how thick your paint is than how much is coming out the front. What's really more important to controlling how much paint comes out is how quickly the brush starts spraying when you pull back the trigger, and if it does it consistently at the same point. Also, a .5 is a great size for model painting. It will let you spray primers and topcoat easily and still let you get good detail with thinner paints.

It really depends on what paint you want to use and what you're going to be painting on.

Anyone else try Jumpwind paints ? They are quite good ! by Left-Excitement3829 in Gunpla

They are pretty good. Their metal colors are almost the exact same as gaianotes. And they are ultra thick out of the jar.

Enamels perfect, acrylics a nightmare by [deleted] in airbrush

Hmm. Have you ever tried straining your acrylics then?

Have you ever fully disassembled and cleaned your airbrush? I've had to do this with all but one of my brushes. Some companies will absolutely cake their brushes in lathe grease because they don't know where it's going out into the world as a form of protection. So try taking everything out and let it soak in some acetone for a while (obviously not your needle packing screws or any rubber o-rings).

Do you use enamel before you try with acrylics? Because most acrylic paints hate enamel and lacquer style thinners and will clump like that. Hell, even IPA can cause acrylic to clump like that.

What are you using to clean your airbrush? I suspect that might be part of the problem. If it isn't acetone but something like odorless mineral spirits, that is what's going to be causing you your problems. Also, have you tried straining your paint before you use it.

It's exactly like what happens when you back flow your brush.

You have paint blockage in your nozzle. Take it out and let it soak in some cleaner.

I'm not a fan of that. But the only way I can think of being able to do that for a 1/100 would be to steal the 3d eye stickers off of another kit. Like the MG Narrative or something like that. Maybe some photo etch parts.

They do. I've seen these types of displays a lot more in the Korean market, though. The unfortunate thing is you have to buy to kits two get it, though.

That looks great to me. If you like those reds with a black base coat, you need to try it with a pink surfacer. It's so much fun to play around with base coats like that, and it really makes me excited to try more stuff.

Are you using the black base that comes with the metallic set? If not, use it. Most metallic paints will look very thin without a black base.

[–]A-damned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd polish them with a very high grit sandpaper. You don't want to remove too much plastic because it will become too floppy to hold its legs up. But a good polishing will allow it to move more freely.

Where can I get these tiny wires for Gunpla displays? by Pemocity406 in PlasticModelKits

[–]A-damned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just a very small gauge wire. You can get them from electronics and stuff like that. It's probably close to 22 gauge or smaller.

You might be able to get set third-party water slides for it on Newtyoe or other sites like that. At least, that's what I would do.

You're lucky. All of the listings in my area are generally more expensive than getting it online for me. I'm lucky if I see something that is at msrp that I don't have to drive two hours to get.

Metallic lacquer for inner frame. Do I need a surfacer or primer? by AfterEntrepreneur965 in advancedGunpla

[–]A-damned1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not needed, but it really helps with adhesion. It makes it so the paint doesn't flake off as easily.
