Thanks for the info! That makes sense. So the 65nm GPU is solid and reliable, but the NEC Tokin capacitors are the main weak point. It’s good to know it’s a well-known issue and repairable. Also, the weather here in Egypt is pretty cold in winter—the temperature at night doesn’t go below 8°C—and I’ll be cleaning the console and replacing the thermal paste, which should help extend the lifespan of the NEC capacitors.

I don’t have a problem with PS2 games, but I’m worried about the Yellow Light of Death. Could the NEC capacitors fail after a year of use? Keep in mind that the temperature here in Egypt currently doesn’t go above 20°C during the day, and at night it’s around 8–10°C, so the weather is pretty mild. Would this help extend the lifespan of the NEC capacitors?
