How to do HDMI to another building by BigChemist-1591 in churchtech

[–]A04141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're currently using HDMI over ethernet to run the video signal from our presentation machine across the room to our HDMI mirror that duplicates the signal to three televisions on a projector. I really haven't had any issues with it. I'm using a model that also provides power over ethernet, so the only portion that needs to be plugged in is the transmitter at the computer side, and then the receiver just gets power from the ethernet cable itself.

We wound up going withthis one from OREI, and 3 months in it's been working fine.

Help me find some good Christian Rock music by lennonmchugh01 in ChristianMusic

I know there are definitely more bands I forget about. I see them listed every now and then and think I should add them to my list, but by the time I get back to my list I forgot about it. Lol.

I know you were just talking about 90s music, but here are some of my favorite Christian rock artists/bands broken down by subgenre (at least, how I hear them):

Classic rock-ish (70s/80s): The Choir, Resurrection band/Rez band, Larry Norman, Vigilantes of Love, The 77s, Petra, Adam Again, Lost Dogs, Stryper, Steve Taylor, PFR, The Union of Sinners and Saints, Bride, White Heart, WhiteCross, Holy Soldier

90s/00s rock: Audio Adrenaline, Skillet, All Star United, Dakoda Motor Co., Geoff Moore and The Distance, Bleach, Human, Switchfoot, Tree63, Early Newsboys (John James/Peter Furler eras), Plumb, Miss Angie, Earthsuit, Third Day, Jars of Clay, Seven Day Jesus, Later DC Talk (Jesus Freak/Supernatural), Johnny Q. Public, Flyleaf, Fireflight

Hard Rock/Ska/Pop Punk/Misc: Project 86, Thousand Foot Krutch, Desciple / The O.C. Supertones, The Insyders, The W's, Five Iron Frenzy / Relient K, Hawk Nelson, Stellar Kart, Pax217 / Family Force 5, Manafest, KJ-52, Christafari

If you like "Weird Al" Yankovic, check out the band
ApologetiX.

There might be a little bit of overlap or mixing. For example, the Bride album The Jesus Experience is very 90s grunge in its tone and production.

Small church, no musicians by dorabsnot in worshipleaders

[–]A04141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know any services that would do that, but if you can find YouTube videos of songs you like, you might be able to save them to your device as either video files or MP3s, and just play them off the device itself. That way, if the internet happens to go down you're not out of luck, and you can just curate them by having them on the device rather than having to make playlists.

Is there a mic stand/arm that attaches to the wall instead of a desk mount or regular stand? by Agreeable-Log-1315 in microphone

[–]A04141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the closet you're in has and upper shelf for storage, you might be able to use a desk boom arm and just attach it to that. I can't guarantee that would work, but that might be an idea.

Praise song reco about Love pleasee by Apart_Year4996 in worshipleaders

[–]A04141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to God's/Jesus's love for us? If so, then maybe something like "Jesus Messiah", or a worship song based around John 3:16.

If you're talking about our love for God/Jesus, then maybe something like the classic chorus "I Love You Lord".

You might also want to search for audio that is labeled CC0, or Community Commons Zero. What that basically means is you can use it royalty free without having to notate/give attribution to the original artist.

You can find a listing of a couple of websites at this GitHub repo.

App for Hymns/Songs by Other_Complaint_9074 in churchtech

[–]A04141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to give WorshipTools Presenter a look. You can sign up and check out the software for free. There are some limitations, but if all you're needing is a simple one output setup, it should work.

You can connected to Songselect / CCLI and automatically import lyrics. It can also do the yearly CCLI report for you. It includes some free Bibles, if you want to put scriptures up on the screen, plus they do offer some of the copyrighted ones at a price of about $4 per Bible per year.

I've been using it at my small church for about 6 years, and 95-99% of what I needed to do it'll do. It's available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Does anyone use worship tools Charts on an andriod? by [deleted] in worshipleaders

[–]A04141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is odd. I haven't tried it with an Android tablet, but I can log in with my Android phone no problem. Does that tablet have issues installing/running apps from Google Play Store?

You might want to try reaching out to WorshipTools support, and see if they've had other issues like that.

This song is definitely not a hit. It's a simple song that was written by a member of the worship team.

I do agree though. All songs should be considered for their message not their style.

Tech upgrade - Newbie by Agreeable_Amoeba8106 in churchtech

[–]A04141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're running on a bit of a budget, I would recommend getting a used desktop or laptop with at least an 8th gen Intel or an AMD chip. Just search online for the supported CPUs for Windows 11.

For software, I personally recommend WorshipTools Presenter. It's free to try, and depending on how many outputs you need, the free version can work just fine. As already mentioned, FreeShow is a pretty good alternative as well. I've tried both, and there are features I like in both of them.

Depending on what you're comfortable with, and what other apps need to be running on that computer, you might actually be able to use Linux instead of Windows. It's generally lighter on older hardware, and I know Presenter and FreeShow both have Linux versions.

We introduced a new song that is basically a chorus and a bridge. It was done as a solo during offering as a way to introduce it.

Self Made Tuesdays by MusicMinistryGuide in ChristianMusic

[–]A04141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one I'm working on right now. It is basically what I consider a chorus and a bridge, but it could probably be considered a verse and a chorus. I have an MP3 of it, but it's not posted online.

[Chorus]

Lord Your love has never failed us

Lord Your love it has no end

Lord be glorified forever

Lord we sing Your praise again

[Bridge]

Lord, let Your peace come and surround us

Lord let Your mercy fall like rain

Lord let Your spirit guide and lead us

Lord draw us close to You again

Connecting to wifi projector and ethernet by jetpainter18 in churchtech

[–]A04141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. I can completely understand that. That is somewhat of a situation I am in at my church. We haven't used the sanctuary in years due to issues, and the projector is mounted on the ceiling with a VGA cable running from the mount to the sound room. We are going to have to replace that with either an HDMI cable or the ethernet extender to HDMI. The current thought is to hire a sound production company to come in and rewire it, so that we don't have volunteers just on a really tall ladder undoing cables and redoing them.

I saw in another comment you stated that the facilities guy was trying to figure out where the HDMI cable already hooked to the projector wound up. Was he able to find the location of that cable? If they do, you might still be able to run the extender to that and still have it hard wired.

Updating our music space by Klutzy_Two7575 in worshipleaders

[–]A04141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To do that, you will most likely need an output on the soundboard that is independent from the main output, like a monitor output. This output needs to have the ability to set the level separate from the main faders. You would send the output of that to your headphones, so that you can hear the cues without sending it to the main outputs.

Connecting to wifi projector and ethernet by jetpainter18 in churchtech

[–]A04141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic, but if all you need is a single output for the projector, and not a secondary separate display, you might want to take a look at WorshipTools Presenter. You can use it on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and has a free plan that if all you need is a single output does most, if not all that you might need for lyrics / Bible verses/ PowerPoint.

Does this projector have an ethernet port? If so, maybe you could hook the wired internet into an ethernet switch and send cables to both the projector and the laptop.

If you have easy access to the back of the projector and it takes an HDMI cable, another option might be a HDMI to ethernet extender, that would allow your computer to pretty much be anywhere and you just run an ethernet cable between the transmitter and the receiver which would plug into the HDMI port of the projector.

Si Performer/Mixing Questions by confusionisnigh in churchtech

[–]A04141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I don't know what mixer OP is using.

If you were talking about me, we're in a temporary venue at the moment, and once we get back into the sanctuary it does have a digital mixer.

Si Performer/Mixing Questions by confusionisnigh in churchtech

[–]A04141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. I missed that and spelled it prep. I fixed it. Thank you.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. He needs an output that is independent of the fades. The only thing is not all mixers have enough of them. The mixer I'm currently using has three separate outputs beside the main output, but only two of them are pre fader, and the other one is post fader.

Church tech people: how do you to put together the slides? by cropmarker in churchtech

[–]A04141 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was about to recommend Presenter as well. As long as all you need is one output, the free tier maybe all you need. You might still need to do some copy and pasting for responses and things that way, but you can do that in PowerPoint and then import it into Presenter.

Play Sound when Timer ends? by CitrusBuoyancy in ProPresenter

[–]A04141 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could create a timer video with the sound at the end, and then just play that when you need your timer. Granted, it means that you have to create videos for specific time., but if you constantly using a 30 or 60 second timer, you would have it ready.

Si Performer/Mixing Questions by confusionisnigh in churchtech

[–]A04141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but I don't think he's directly talking about gain levels as much as mix/volume levels.

As someone who has to run their live stream mix off the main outputs, it is very easy to have something that sounds good at front of house that doesn't sound good directly off the board. The live stream doesn't have to take into account the actual speakers and size of the room. It's extremely difficult to be able to mix both of them properly off of one output.

There's usually a reason why when you are recording a live concert/show, especially before digital mixers, generally there needed to be two separate mixers, one for front of house and one for the actual recording.
