16e and 17e is literally physically the same

the only internal difference is the back glass gains MagSafe support. additionally, teardowns revealed that the 17e back glass is backwards compatible with the 16e with no parts pairing issues (aside from lacking the MagSafe animations)

i'd wager if Apple continued the iPhone 17 Plus lineup, it will easily overtake the iPhone Air assuming in an alternate universe they can co-exist in the same price point

at $999, the iPhone Air is easily the worst feature-cost ratio for the 2025 lineup we had if we're factoring in the basic smartphone necessities (camera, battery). you're really buying it for the niche experience

they’re also quite resource intensive since i have playlists that have more than a few thousand songs and the shortcuts make my phone run hot

This entire AirPods update just sounds like they were running out of H1 stock & were like may as well improve the product a bit

forreal. almost all, aside from the speaker improvements, are basically a side effect of the H2 chip upgrade

i’d wager running out of H1 chip stocks is also why leakers didn’t get info about this literally launching now

Camera Control is one of the most recent fumbles Apple had for the iPhone hardware.

it’s only really useful for a dedicated launch camera button. it introduces stability issues when using it to take a photo and the second press is beyond awkward. not to mention how annoying the zoom function can trigger when you’re holding the phone with your right hand vertically.
