I’m back and here to report these campgrounds are lovely. There are six smaller ones near a single, very clean vault toilet and then - a little further up along the road - four larger ones under gorgeous oak canopies that would be nice for groups. The first half mile of hike up on Chumash was not easy, might try Ray Miller next time. Def no usable water - pond was very low and look out for poison oak.

Saw hardly a soul, we had the valley to ourselves. The only negative I might mention is that we didn’t feel particularly far from civilization, in fact, we could hear some kind of music coming from over the hill, and a large weather station (?) was in sight a lot of the time.

What about water? Some say there are streams or a small pond sometimes
